Did the 5 Speed auto come in any of the Magna or Verada wagons?
Were any of the 4 speed tiptronic?
Also does anyone know what model was the last you could get a wagon with a manual 'box?
Thinking of getting late model wagon but would like to get at least a five speed auto if I can't have a manual.
A Sports wagon was produced, and I am sure it was also available in the TJ S2, meaning it would come with manual and the 5sp tippy. Look hot in black

sports wagons only came in 5 speed tippy, but im sure right up to tw there would be manuals availiable
I know for a fact that you can get TJ Sports wagons, which are 5-speed tiptronic, as has been previously mentioned. These will also have the Sports/VRX exhaust fitted too.
There wasn't a VRX TJ wagon to my knowledge, though.
If you don't want the sporty look and/or the louder exhaust, look at the Series 2 (Aug 2002 onwards) KJ Verada 3.5 wagons which have the 5-speed Tiptronic.
Should you come across (however rare they are) a KL/KW Verada wagon, of course they'll have the 3.5 5-speed tiptronic as well.
N.B. All wagons are "ei", there was no "xi" wagon ever made.
To date, I have not seen a TJ or TL/TW 5-speed manual wagon ; I'm not saying they don't exist, I just do not recall seeing one. If anything, they're very very rare.
I have seen a TH 3.5 manual wagon before on carsales a few months back, can't seem to find it there anymore.

The TH wagon was the last that was available with the 3.5L/manual gearbox combo

Thanks for this info. Does anyone know if the five speed tippys are durable? Or havn't they been around long enough to tell yet?
Always a bit paranoid about auto boxes..

Must've been a VERY special (1 off) order as when i was working at MMAL there were no manual wagons made after the end of the TH series. Hence why the TJ/TL "VR wagon / V6 Sports wagon" was 5speed auto only where as the sedan had the option of 5speed manual or 5 speed auto..
Heres a write up on the TJ magna sportswagon:

I can back up Jason here, I have serviced and worked on many models of Magna and have never seen a Manual past the TH. I especially have never seen a Manual TL/W wagon, if they were about I would be damn tempted lol
Well, theres a 5sp tippy if that counts... TL-TW VR Wagon

The 5 speed Tippys are "stronger" then the 4 speed. As long as they have been serviced correctly (with a good flush and genuine mitsu ATF) at or prior to the required intervals they are very reliable. I have not heard of any "major" problems with maintained 5 speed tippys. Could be wrong but this is the place to ask!!
