View Full Version : King Springs
I want to buy the King Springs set, but their catalogue is kind of confusing.
For the rear ones which one is appropiate for a 2002 VR-X: KCRL43 or KCRL39?

just ask for King lows for the rear and Superlows for the front
or super lows at all 4 corners
btw i dunno about the catalogue thing but this is what most guys get
..GONE..

They don't make SuperLows for the rear anymore.. they had problems with them.. so its SuperLows for the Front and Lows for the rear!

They are just Springs, if they are made to the proper specs, why would they be any different? Anyway, I'm not expert in em, don't quote me, I was just thinking out loud.
BTW, go to www.onautos.com.au, trevor is doing the set of 4 king springs for ~$220. and you can get him to devliery it to your door step for like extra bit of money.
Check it out.

I agree with u white devil! springs are very simple things, it is only up to you what you prefer in how much stiffer and how much lower you want to go. it only gets more complex when you want to start matching properly the springs, shocks and sway bars etc to the type of speeds and roads u want to drive on.

Well, I've had Kings for the past 2.5 months. Happy so far. Might change in 9 months time but we'll see. Booya rates his Lovells. I reckon there's not much between them. My installer reckons that Lovells and Kings are the same and aren't goog compared to others. Can't comment on Kmacs. He recommended a German brand called Ironbach. KB's mate recommends Aurora.
With, King springs, Whiteline rear sway bar, KYB shocks (which is possibly more important for bumps n' comfort than springs), and 235/45R17's, I know the ride quality has decreased but it's not annoying or harsh my any means. Naturally hitting some bumps isn't pretty but I'm pleased so far and I'm a picky bastard.

KYB.. any reason you chose those? I've heard they are somewhere between Monroe and Koni in terms of quality and price.. what was your justification for the choice? ( shocks are on my list.. looking for war-stories :) )

Has anyone considered getting adjustable coil overs?

Dave recommended them.
I wasn't prepared to pay for Koni.
Wanted something better than OEM shocks even though these are considered OEM shocks, they're allegedly way better than OEM shocks.
My mate has used KYB for the past 6-8 years and reckons they are the goods. He also feels Koni are over-rated. Mainly because they can be re-built but I reckon that could be an advantage. Koni also have adjustable units whereas KYB don't for the Magna.

I choose KYB over the GT gas just to be different, for only $1.50 more they are supposed to be better, cant tell the difference between my Sports ( kings spring + KYB ) and my mates ( kings springs + GT gas ). I asked for superlow front and the guy reakoned that he couldnt get them anymore and he is the Newcastle rep for kings.
