looks good mate :) definately something different. If you could get clear tail lights it would look tops with that. Looks nakey without the skirt and the rear bits on hehe. But good, awesome work, will b good to see in the flesh soon. Ive been a busy boy with my car too, ive made a decent number of improvement this year. Just today got some ks verada interior lights, which fit... But i like elite ones more, and an awesome replacement for my steering wheel volume cintrol wich doesnt work with my current hu haha.

Looks very clean crisp and tidy, nice work!
did you buy TM lights to do thator is that what whas on it? (im guessin it is a tp - tp front, rear bar, plastic moulds on sides etc etc)
Im trying to picture it with the standard tp stripes on teh tail lights... hmm dunno if it would go with it or not
if you want to get extreme you could run a bundle of white pin stripes over the whole tail lights to give that vp calais type look hehe, sorry just trying to give some ideas!!
Now you need some big white wheels (same style as on my burgandy gt but with white instead of gold!!)
But what youve done is very different and great to see effort being put into the "old magnas" :D

everything on the car is tp, except the piece iv put my badge on. the tailights are still tp lights. but the piece between them i got from a tm (where the number plate should sit). i painted this white, then put my badge on.
i cant see this working to well with the standard tp piece. you need a solid colour behind. i agree that something needs to be done to the tail lights. you could be onto something with that pin strip idealol

Looks real good man, I like it. The only thing I don't like is the black plastic strip that runs around the car. Maybe if there was another colour? I had the same thing on my first Corolla and it irritated the **** out of me, but I never did anything about it lol

Ive seen the strip painted white before i think and it didnt look half bad, but i dontmind the black strip, it kinda breaks the whiteness up :D

Yeah the white defo needs to be broken up, a couple of the door strips fell off the 'rolla and it didn't look right either. Maybe if the car in question had a 2 colour theme? They could be matched to that? I didn't like the black strip but I couldn't think of a better idea either lol

Kieran my cars kinda 2 tone, but the second colour is black to that doesnt make a difference hahaha. Imo the black would suit my car since it has black painted accesories (spoilers) and will soon have a black elante kit if im lucky... Hmmm what do do, I reckon it looks ok on your car luke, but if you did something custom to it it may look even better :D

i like the black. it seperates the white nicely. i have thought about paintng it other colours tho. i have also seen the strip painted white. too much white imo. im looking in to alex's pin stripe idea that could work. altho i think tinted tail lights would look awesome.

Yer Tinted looks great imo. I did it the other week (see post you ride) and i like. I did it way too dark tho and need to sand it back a bit. Its fine too see at night, but daytime is a bit of a worry i think. But yeah it is a good improvement.

that looks awesome, love the grille. how did you do the tinting? is it legal?

Sorry looks terrible.
I would do all the side strips white, with a black garnish and possibly a newer "magna" badge in the middle

i used nightshade, its about $20 for a can. Its technically not really legal, especially that dark. that is why I need to lighten it a bit so you can see the lights easier at day. I had a cop driving behind me the other day and I was fine, but still just to be on the safe side I will lighten it a bit.
legally you are not allowed to have any tint on tail lights at all. that is a technicality. as long as its not way overdone you dont get picked on, if you drive a magna that is... a common***** on the other hand...

? Explain that
TL VRX tail lights came out tinted slightly from factory, old fairlane lights came out factory tinted DARK
can you post up where it says that in ADR's or whatever?

it was actually FC and FD Ford LTD's that had the tinted tails - and the whole lense was not tinted - it had darker strips running verticle - about 3mm wide, then 3mm of red/coloured lense then 3mm of tint (bad explanation - i have a set of NOS FD LTD lenses here that im looking at)
i belive that is how they got around the ADRs - same with VL calais's - the whole lense was never tinted (i think? confirm?)
if the car came from factory with darker tails, then it will still be ADR compliant.
dont make em too dark, dont do anything stupid, and the cops wont bother you - esp in a magna / vrx / verada - we arnt exactly high on the list of target cars in comparo to imports and commodores and falcons...
EDIT - i actually like the custom badge as well - and the black bits all the way around help to break the cars whiteness up and give it some character and 'body'

yes ive heard that as long as there are 'non tinted' parts you can get through. Also if it was factory it is an exception too.

Personally, First Gen Magna's and tinted tail lights dont really work for me as i think sometime it makes them look like any old wreck magna driving around fuming and burning oil making the back of the car darker!!
... Im allowed to say that haha.
Anyway, i think what was meant about the tint before was you are not allowed to apply any tint to a light... if it come from factory, ok... but not if it came from a can.
None the less, i tinted some headlight covers on one of my elantes, (headlight covers = removable)
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b313/ahsilvershadow/IMG_106-1.jpg
But with the police attention around now (in adelaide anyway) i wouldnt dare tint any tail lights... unfortunately... even though you can see them fine when they need to be seen... its just a defect waiting to happen.
Perphaps it could be done by putting pinstripes on, tiniting them, then removing the stickers so it has striped tinting and not looking as dark yet looking dark at the same time?
Are you getting Elante sideskirts for it?

valid point made with the tint being mistaken for a dirty rear. i think i will be leaving the tint.
as for the sideskirts... yes that is the plan, like i have mentioned before i already have one but not the other. moving to adelaide soon so im hoping to get a sideskirt sometime soon.
i will be putting on the one i already have. so atleast on side will look complete. :D

I like the chrome man!
i think it would look good if the white panel the badge sits on and the two white pieces either side of it were painted black
it would make the two tailights look like one whole piece

not too sure about going black between the tail lights. cos i think the black needs to be broken up.
but i may look at doing something different there,
want some more oppinions guys. the more the better. especially from the guys who didnt like the red mitsu badge which was originally wat i done.

Ditch the badge, a 2003 badge really doesnt suit a 1988 car

just need to clean off that black smoke stain and it will be just right. a great upgrade for the back instead of the original panel that eventually lets go on the glue holding it together though

I reckon I liked the red one more... Something about the chrome doesnt fit... maybe if you could get your hands on the chrome door surrounds from an elite or something it might fit in a bit better?
But it's up to you really what you like best.
edit: still looks way better than the stocko rear end :)
