Hey people i just got a Pioneer system put into my car, it consists of Pioneer DEH-P4650MP head unit, Pioneer TSG1047 100w 4inch 2way in dash, Pioneer TSA1680S 220w 6inch 4ways on the back ledge, Pioneer 305CBOX 800w sub in box, with a Boss BA1000 1000w 4 channel amp.

I am running the front of the deck, rear of the amp and the sub with the last 2 channels bridged of the amp.

Ive only had the system for around a week now but im thinking of adding on more, lol.

The 4inch fronts to me seem like there not giving enough for my liking so im think of putting Pioneer TSC1625 6 inch 2way 220 watt component speakers in the doors, another Pioneer 305CBOX 800w sub in box and another Boss BA1000 1000w 4 channel amp.

With this add on i will run both subs of one amp with each channel bridged and the front n rears of the other amp.

Anyone out there with any opinions on this setup??? Would be good to hear.

I've got the same headdeck and they're ok, i was gonna get those pioneer 6" splits your talking about getting too but i found mb quarts 6" splits and got them instead, those pioneer 6" were gonna be sold by brisbane car sound for 160$ but really pioneer dont make good speakers, unless you go the pro ones for 300 odd for 6s and 400 for 6x9s, my friend has these and they're good value but the rest of the pioneer range are pretty trash i rekon, i'd only use pioneer hu's. Try alpine for speakers, they're pretty cheap for quality.

[Edit] - I was versing these MB's against the pioneer pro's at JB, even tho its in a sound board and not set up right for the speakers, but running it through a 1000W cadence amp at 75w these mb's kicked the crap out of the pioneers, when the pioneers were distorting the MB were clearer and went louder but the pioneers do have bass (My friend doesnt need a sub, but hes got a 323 so the cabin is small)

I feel that before adding more bass, how about adding some more MID-bass?? Forget the 4" in the dash and put some 6.5" into the doors, then divert the amp power to the front, and run the back shelf speakers from the head unit. You're actually better off spending more money on the front speakers than keep fitting more subs; once you have heard good front speakers with strong mid-bass you won't go back. It depends what you want to do... enjoy the car, or let outside people enjoy the car.

Hey ive just come back from Autobarn they have just pointed out to me that i will need to put a custom board in the lower door trim due to the 5" and 6" not been able to fit in the indented part of the trim, they want $220 to make and install the custom boards plus install of the speakers i chose does this sound any good?

How hard is it to install and second amp yourself and run all the cabling required? Has anyone out there installed their own amps before, im sure there would be someone. I want to install the amp and run the cabling for the extra sub myself but need some knowledge first as ive never done this before, Plus ive been told that i will be better of to run a new power cable from battery to the new amp insted of running the new amp of the old amps power, this been due to the subs draining to much power through one power cable, does that sound right?

Cheers Jono

$220 to custom create baffles + install front door speakers is a fair price provided they do it properly... To do it properly MDF should be used, and it is coated with MDF primer then regular enamel so that it is water resistant. It would be about 3 hours work to do it properly + run new speaker wire through the door grommets, seal up the baffles with speaker gasket compound etc.

Depending on how thick your current power cable is you might want to run a second one. Cable of insufficient thickness will heat up and cause a voltage drop which means less power out of your amps. A 4AWG cable is suitable for around 350-400WRMS in our cars.
