Fitted my redback catback this morning, old exhaust was rustier than i thought lol. I was one of the lucky *sarcasm* people who found they have to cut 100ish mm out of the new centre section to make it fit. Anyway my question is to other redback owners, how low does your centre muffler sit? Mine is friggen low, has nothing to do with the exhaust being cut, as one pipe was flared properly so it sits perfectly straight when fitted. Just low. And also my exhaust tip sits pretty hard against the body at the back. Is that normal?

yeah, mate, should of had a look at mine when we where up the river...yep,the centre resi is a lot rounder and i found that it is lower, also when the exhaust shop fitted the rear section,he put more rubber bushes in the rear mount to lower it a bit..still you may have to take it to a shop to get it modded if you have done it yourself...

i reckon i might go to the wreckers and try a whole heap of rubber mounts. I also found one broken near the centre, fixing that might help lift it a bit.

just make sure the muffler tip doesn't touch your bumper as it will burn/melt in no time. Your local muffler shop should be able to adjust it for around $20

Yeah I've seen that before. It actually sits against a piece of steelwork, so I'm not real worried about it for now. Might get my old man (a welder by trade) to fit a different tip, I was eyeing off a double chrome dump tip in the exhaust shop the other day...

I have this system and the whole lot under the floor pans is tucked up nice and close to the underside of the car. The guy who fitted mine used the all the std hangers and bushes...

What sort of tip is on it? Would have gone to get new hangers 2day but got called out, just got home now. Will try again tomorrow.

Exactly what happened to mine, except for the tip that was put on correctly the first time.

mine was touching as well,it has all the original hangers etc..but what the guy in the exhaust shop did,was ,pulled the muffler down at the rear, and when this stretched the rear hanger,he inserted a dounut ring, squashed up into the gap of the rear hanger, once the pressure was let off ,the muffler then sat a good 10-15mm lower...could try that

mine was fine, stock hangers and all, a bit of preload on this and that before bolting things together is the ticket..
i've only ever scraped coming out of the local servo (which even a landcrusier does lol )
