is there any waty to make them better and such or do u just use the 1,2,3,d to get better response ? (is there anything ?)

unfortunately no. :)

If your going for better response due to gear selection then using 1-2-3 selectors is the way to go. Also I've noticed in my TF 3 litre auto that in D with ur foot down it will only rev out to 6000 rpm, by using 1-2-3 you can keep it locked in gear for longer and you are able to rev it out to 7000 rpm no worries. To give an example of the difference in acceleration it makes..in D I timed my car to a best 0-100 km time of about 10.3, not too impressive. Then I tried using the gears, with a very good launch and holding the gears out I managed a best 0-100 km of a flat 9 seconds, quite a difference considering all I was doing was going from D and then using the gear selectors. I really really hated my auto until I tried doing this, now I know that when ever I want my car to feel kinda fast and responsive I just use the gear selectors .

I wouldn't be revving it out to 7,000rpm  ,

Peak power is at 5,500rpm anyway so shifting at 6,000 is even a bit late  , but 7,000RPM  , my auto TF only revved to 6400rpm (rev limiter)

haha, What did you do to your Engine Sexed'TFn??   You've infected some of Booya's High Revving fever did ya? hehe... joking... I've also got a Auto 3L, 0-100 in D is approx 9 (before CAT BACK was put in), but the thing is, you will only be in 2nd when you're going 100km/h. As long as the Auto don't shift gears below 5000RPM you'll do pretty good time I think, even in D.

I know the car pulls really hard after 3500RPM, but the time it has to pull is too short, when it will reach 5500RPM in a second , it starts to lose torque and it's no point reving anyway, so might as well change gears. but when you change from 5500rpm to 2nd gear, it drops it to like 3000 or something. At which you should already be doing 70km/h or so.... I don't know what you guys think, but I think for the Auto box, in 2nd, it doesn't pull that hard from 50 to 80, but 80 to 130, 2nd pulls VERY VERY nicely. So going back to the shift points, 1st gear won't get you to 80, and even if you hold 1st until 6400RPM, you'll probably be doing 70 or so, when you shift, you've got a slaggy 10km/h to let the 2nd gear to get over before pulling real hard again. Do you guys agree with me? or is this just my car?

If you want to get a more accurate 0-100 time...do it about 5 times. That way the auto will adjust it's shift point 'cause it will "think" you want to drive it hard!

i think that all auto boxes get confused like if ure going at about 50 and you want to get to 100 and u plant it, it takes to lonng to figure out wat it is doing.

thnxs for the help

Maybe mine is a freak engine or theres something wrong with my tacho  . Anyway, the reason for reving past peak power is because it will drop down to higher revs in the next gear.

For example: In first revving it out to 7000 rpm,(I can feel that the power and torque does die off a bit after 5500ish rpm) but when you change to second the engine drops down straight into the peak power band of second. Whereas leaving it in drive and revving it out to just below 6000 rpm or there abouts, when it changes to second the revs drop below the peak power band, so you lose acceleration while you wait for it to hit its peak power band again.

So basically, your engine makes more power the higher the revs are, that is until you reach peak power. By revving it higher in one gear it will drop down to higher revs in the next gear where theres more power then if it dropped down to lower revs, ie: didn't rev the previous gear as high. Does anyone follow my ramblings?

fully agree with both white devil and sexy tfn, i think the ecu rev limiter that knows to upshift at 6'400 in D gets tricked if u use 1, 2, 3 and revs out to peak power before upshifting, on my car it feels fine at 7'000 bec with mods the power curve has moved up. upshifting at 6'000 drops it back into about 3000 for the next gear and a bit of lag, but upshift at 7000 drops it back to 3500 at the next gear and the area of peak torque.
i didnt hold it in 1st to 7000, but started in first and put in 2nd at about 5000 but it revved out to 7000 b4 shifting. engine seemed really fine at 7000 too. seems like a perfect bounce from peak power to peak torque, redlines are set on the safe side and an extra 500rpm is ok i reckon.

I've only done it once or twice coz i know anything past red line aint too good for it but i rekon my rev limiter is broken coz i've reved out to 7k in 2nd...

was that in D ?

I believe there ways of making automatic gearboxes better, i see kit advertised for commos and falcons all the time for around $600, unfortunatly i dont think anyones developed these kits for our boxes though
