Hey all..

so im getting closer to lowering my VR-X.
but im still a little scared as to how low i should go. i have got a pretty steep driveway and dont want to scrape.
i was just wondering if anyone could tell me how low the vrx front bars are after lowering.

like, dimensions from ground to middle of front vrx bumper for both lows and superlows.
i wanna try to measure the lowest part of the driveway in comparison with the front bar.

also does anyone have pics of their vrx with superlows (either all round or at the front)
does the L/SL combo give it that wedge look for a VRX?

thanks in advance for any help.
Dom.

I took some coke-can photos of my car here (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=968593&postcount=26). It's only on King Lows, but you get an idea of height (Lovell Superlows are supposed to be 5-10mm lower, King Superlows on the front are supposed to be 10-15mm lower).

Unless your driveway is stupidly steep, you should be OK - although I reckon I wouldn't make it out of mine if I had Superlows on the front...

in my Member's Ride Post (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=945981&postcount=6) the second picture shows the steepness of my driveway on the left.

my car does get pretty close already to the driveway when going up, (maybe 5-6cm) so just wondering if i do lower will it scrape?

Humm, stop in the place of your drive you think it will scrape and them just measure to the lowest points of your car. Don't forge to load the car up, tank of petrol and a few people should do it.

king lows are 45mm lower than standard, so it would b close, but if ur carefull u will b fine.

That looks fine! I've been up driveways a lot worse than that without issue. My own driveway at home isn't that steep, but it has a steep lip coming off the street, which is where the drama is. Yours doesn't seem to have one.

King Lows will lower your car about 40mm (they did on mine - remember, the VR-X is lower from the factory), so if you have 5-6cm clearance now, you shouldn't have any dramas.

I'm in Adelaide and have a vrx with king low/super low combo, and would be willing to try my car in your driveway to see if you will clear if you want.:D

If i am already scraping the towing eye in and out of the garage, will i get "beached as" on king lows?

my diamante has same clearance as yours under the front towing eye, and i was wondering if the diamante SEI came standard that height? i ask as i bought the car second hand like it is and it seems lower than other veradas, diamantes etc ive seen. did mitsi have a lower spring option? the springs have no markings i can see so i presume there stock. i also replaced my worn shocks for some second hand monroe gas GTs from a wrecker and the springs i removed from them were a couple of coils taller. cheers.

I'd dare say your car has been lowered aftermarket. The VR-X/Ralliart/GTVi etc suspension (the lowest Magnas that Mitsubishi sold in Aus) is only around 10mm lower than the Execs and the like.

Like I said, I replaced my VR-X suspension with the Lows and got a 40mm drop - so if yours is that height, I doubt it's standard.

yeah thought so, its still on the standard 16"s but looks good and i do think they suit it. do aftermarket springs have any markings etc?

I noticed alot of people go a low/super low combo why is this? and are the super lows in front or back?

usually superlows in the front and lows in the back, as ive noticed (just measured mine) they sit bout ten mm lower at the back standard. it makes it even height roughly.

I have a TL VR-X and just got it lowered with king lows. We measured the low/superlow combo and realised that the front would rake and would have trouble on driveways.

The back wheel arch isn't as big as the front, so it makes it look somewhat uneven (not by much though). If you want to be even, then you'll need to run the superlows at the front.

With the lows, I managed to drop the car 27mm all around. Anymore than 30mm and it starts voiding insurance for most companies. I will try and do a coke can test this weekend and get some photos up for your viewing pleasure.
