Evening All!
Looking to update the stock system i've got in the 2k5 380.
Just looking for suggestions as i'm not too sure of what i should be looking at.
Friends have had their car system's done, but i gotta say, some of the brands out there, jesus, how it passes i'm not sure.
If anyone's got a decent to super "sexy" vibration system, please post.
All the best.

hey mate may help if you give a rough estimate on how much you want to spend, what type of music you listen to, if you want a comp level install or just crusin, if you want dvd players and screens galore ect.
In my 2nd gen i have
JVC head unit (older model with usb slot)
Alpine Type R 6.5 splits up front
Type S 6.5 coaxils in parcel shelf
JL W1v1 (i think) 12inch Sub in sealed box
A monoblock Alpine mrd350 or something
and a alpine mrv600 or something 4 channel amp
This is nice but got stuff cheap and 2nd hand so good bang for buck and nice quality for my listening to metal

I like the fh-p80bt (http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/25/121/61/FH-P80BT/index.html), actually I just got one, will fit soon. So looking forward to the new look :)
I'll run some nice splits up front, pioneers in the back of the H/U. And a response 4 x 100 (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0426&CATID=24&keywords=&SPECIAL=&form=CAT&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=595)(actually 130WRMS) for splits and a nice sub.
Splits are a bit of an issue, Though jaycars are great value, I want something a bit warmer.
Nice and Crisp, and won't rattle the car apart after 12 months.

Check this thread out; the most extensive sound system overhaul that I recall here.

Thx for replies.
I listen to the range, anything from Metal to hard trance/psyche, so a **$* load of bass is a necessity for me. I got something for bowel movements caused by air pulsations in a sense.....
Well, I'm not looking for a full comp system setup, just looking to get front and rears, plus speaker additions (Which, i don't think is neccessary just yet), Tweeters and an Amp.... or 3...
With the 380's, to do a new setup, does it recquire a new h/u with new face plate or can it be all done with the sufficiant power output of the original h/u?
Cost wise, max i would go would be $900-$1000.
Can't and i won't tolerate crap sound, especially when it has heavy bass in it.
Oh and SHoot! Looked at the p80bt, looks very sexy and shmick, how much it set you back..?
Thanks
Ben
Dang.....
For $1000 concentrate on your fronts only.
For a big bass system, $1000 is what you would spend on the set up alone (dynamat, wiring etc)
If you want to keep the stock headunit, you need a hi to low level convertor to run amps.
Around $80.
For wiring the amps + speakers, around $80 (amp wiring kit, plus extra speaker wire).
Leaves you with $840.
Dynamat Xtreme door kit $98
For the amp, Jaycar Response, either the 2 x 150wrms ($249) or the 4 x 100wrms ($269). The 4 channel if you want to upgrade rear speakers later.
So you're left with $493 for the front speakers. Which leaves you with plenty of options....

I'd say get some good splits 4X100 amp and maybe some OK 6x9's for some more bass in back? or a 2nd hand/special priced sub. bridge the 2 left over channels on amp for sub and run rears off H/U

Bass = Subs = Money.
Boston and Hertz will come the closest in your budget for mid bass minus the sub.

Subs = sound deadening = horridly pricey

Just to inspire you a little....
FH-P80BT
I did the install all bar wring the harness, 44 bucks got me a neat wiring install that can return to factory without cutting a wire.
Theres 3.5mm jack input in the rear console, USB and Ipod in the lower front console and a Bluetooth Mike above the sunvisor. All works 100% even has a dimming function,

Marty, Looks spot on in there.
Are you still running the same speakers as you had or have you put in all the goodies.
Interested to get your feedback on the sound quality with the normal speakers.

Running pioneers all round, the backs are fine but I need to mount the fronts on some MDF, and the Fact. splits are still connected.
I will get some Jaycar splits and a 4 x 100 Jaycar to run some serious 6 x 9's soon

Can't wait to get my install done, got another delay though :(.

Pushing out a bit more power now, and the sunglasses holder rattles....
I want to order a PAC SWI PS to keep the steering wheel controls. I was qouted $224-$299 around town today:gtfo:
Or there is the CAT10 infra red option at $199 retail, and the boys at Capalaba Autobarn will do much better for Club guys...
But the PAC is $ 40.00 USD on USA Fleabay......lol
Thanks for the comments guys, the H/U is quite cool, it also automatically displays the Radio Station name and Logo or current song. On CD or USB you get the folder # and track# plus two lines of text or other choices.
BT is Crystal, and it looks way cooler at night.
And the USB function is Fast... Faster than the Aussie release DEHP7050BT, there's also a news function, but I haven't figured that out yet, all I know is you listen to USB/CD and it keeps a minder on a radio station, perhaps it auto switches at news time...if our radio stations support this I don't know.... Its definately OS model flashed for Australia, but the wire connectors that came on the harness suit the aerpro magna harness, some EU standard probably.

Hey just had another look...
Just noticed the AC/DC Back In Black being played... classic! :D (way Better than Black Ice...:doubt:)
Anyway, it also says USB, implying you are playing said Accadacca from a flash drive, yeah? If so, where is said flash drive connected at time of said photo?

Its there, just, below the A/C temp dial, next to the gas meter. in the lower front console.
And I did wait til it displayed SH00T to thrill as well. I've got a 4 GB for the captain and kisses and an 8 for me.
So if we swap cars, we swap drives as well....
Edit: The USB is a supplied cord that plugs in the rear of the H/U and I have that pushed out the same hole as the LPG switch wiring.

Marty, that is really schmick, mate!
I'm jealous; you've left us VRX's behind
Not sure that I want to change the dash to do this but it definitely looks way better than any of the stock consoles.

Not that it matters (with the flash drives now) but is the new head unit single disc, or 6 disc? You might have mentioned it in your previous posts prior to installation but I can't remember now.
Also meant to add last time, personally I wouldn't worry about the loss of steering wheel controls; I never use mine anyway - and with the 380 they're on the back so noone will ever see them, unlike other makes which have them on the front.

Its Single disc. But flash drives are cheap as.... Its like a jukebox at your finger tips.
About the steering wheel controls, I use mine a lot so I ordered a Pac SWI PS, Steering wheel interface device. Should be here in a week. 40.00 from US ebay.
The CAT10 ($199AUD)does the same job, but by infrared.
