The other day I can over a crest and a car was coming out of a drive way right in front of me. Hit the brakes and the car slowed but then it felt like the front right disc lost it and just went retarded letting out this big groaning noise.

I thought the pads must be getting low so last week I replaced the front ones with Bendix General CTs. The braking is much improved but still if I jam the brakes down the front right brake just loses it and lets out the groaning noise.

So at this point Im not sure if my ABS is working or whats going on. Ive never locked up all the wheels but that front one shouldn't lose it when I put alot of pressure on the pedal. Any ideas on why its doin this?

When ABS is engaged you should feel the pedal vibrating very hard against your foot. And yeah it should never lock up, as thats what ABS stops. Dont really know what it could be. Might be worth taking it to mitsu and asking them to check for fault codes.

To be honest ABS in magnas is fail

The groan is not your abs though, if your abs is not working, even if the light does not come on the dash you will get wheels locking up.

The groan is very common if you have glazed rotors. This is the pad losing grip on the rotor

When you stuck in the new pads did you get the rotors machined?

+1 Mal is on the money

if the abs wasnt working it would just lock up that wheel, also it doesnt pull to one side when braking? (can indicate a dodgey caliper)

Check for glazing on the pads/discs.
Brake fluid change or bleed, then "test"again!

Cheers mate that sounds like a solution. Yea I didn't have them machined just had my normal mechanic chuck the pads on. The rotors being DBA Slotted wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

Yeah the Magna ABS does feel pretty poor, it cuts in way too easily.

The groaning noise is caused by slotted rotors; all the Magnas I've driven with slotted rotors have done it.
