Can anyone advise if the factory bluetooth system supports voice dialing? (Push a button say a name and phone dials the number) My phone has this facilty.

Have just purchased a 380 VRX series 111 and am debating whether to transfer my Motorola HF850 bluetooth kit (which does support voice dialling) out of my Verada Gtvi (being traded) or have the factory kit installed.

At this stage will go the factory kit if voice dialling supported.

Not concerned with the extra cost involved!

Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers

No, as far as I know, no voice dialling. It just answers the phone when ringing, or dials out the last dialled number on your phone.

Hi Mike,

I had the after market Parrot system installed in preference to the factory setup when I purchased my VRX new in 2006. This has voice dial, access to the phone's contacts and directory and an LCD display that sits over the location for the Bluetooth button on the dash (see attached pic). It works fine with the iPod interface (as discussed in the PM) as well supporting iPod and iPhone functions at the same time. You can even use the GPS maps function of the iPhone to check your route whilst the iPod side plays music to the sound system. Email and everything also works. Many of the iPod interfaces out there don't allow this functionality so I highly recommend the Mitsu factory option from the USA.

I'm not sure what the Parrot cost is but your Motorola may be a better bet when transferred. Cheers...

Eventually had Mitsubishi kit installed.

Works well and does support voice dialling.

Comes as version 3.18

Anyone aware of differences in operation between versions 3.18 and 3.20?

I doubt there would be diffences in operation, it would just be bug fixes & improvements to performance if anything.

I also have 3.18 (standard with car), and would assume they'd be no big differences between the versions.
Unless I have actual problems with my bluetooth, I have no plans to upgrade it no matter what version Parrot gets up to (unless they have hologram projection or something...). But having said that, I almost never use mine anymore... using Bluetooth drains my mobile battery faster than without Bluetooth, so I turned it off (hardly ever get calls anyway).
But if you wanted to upgrade (provided you're using the factory bluetooth) you could ask your dealer to upgrade it on your next service.

the versions go further back than that too....I have version 3.16....

so are these things firmware upgradable?

System works well as is except for a thud through the speaker when I turn off the ignition.

Dealer is saying no problem with it but I am unconvinced.

Car goes in for 45000 service Monday so will have them look at it.

If anyone has any technical explanation that will assist in my discussion with service Manager I would love to hear it.

Or am I being too anal and should accept as is.

Cheers

I looked at getting a bluetooth kit for my 380 VRX so I went to the local Mitsubishi Dealer, asked him how much for one and he quoted $570, and i think that is without installation. Can I buy one cheaper elsewhere or is that about right?

Thats about what I paid including installation.
