Ppls,
I'm coming up to my 75K service and want to get the front pads replaced and discs machined due my vibration problem at speed.
What are recommendations for performance pads? The car does mostly highway.
I know Zarbs said he got Bendix CTs.
I have Bendix General CT's and they bite very well indeed and have helped reduce brake fade. They don't give off much dust at all, they dont squeak and they have a titanium strip so no need for a lengthy running-in period. Highly recommended

As above mate. Anything by Bendix, you can't go wrong. I'd personally go with Ultimates, but CTs will be fine for a highway car.

I've got 380 front brakes on my Magna, which were supplied with Bendix Ultimates. They were VERY good at repeated high speed braking, but trundling around town, the noise was unbearable.
I ended up swapping them for Bendix CTs, which aren't so great if you hammer them, but they're perfect for law abiding driving.

I agree, but didnt notice that much noise... was bearable in my case, found if they sqeaked to give em a a couple of good stops, not enought to fry them just warm and clean the pad. they were fine again after that.

Have you thought about replacing the rotors as well? I'm only up to about 40k but have been thinking I might look at the whole package when they are due, some nice stuff in the US on the 9G site for the Galanat & not too dear in the group buy section. http://www.club9g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287

Don't know whether I really need them....but... modding is not because you need things, is it? you don't need 200KW either, but
Can you cut and paste the relevant out of 9G? :P :P I can't be fubbed becoming a member just for discs ;)
If a group buy is reasonable could be in on it - I can claim maintenance costs :shifty:

Thought it might be worth thinking about since the 380 rotors are notorious for warping under hard use.

Hey, I'm in.
These prices are good. Ralliart Premium + Semi Metallic?
Ceramic seems over the top. We're not F1 racing.

Is that right? Is that in the States? Is our discs better (PBR or local manufacture)? I've never heard this but I don't get out much lol

Well I havent got a problem with mine but I could have sworn I read it somewhere on here.
The 2007 Ralliarts wont fit but the others do, apparantly the Ralliart Galant got bigger stoppers.
I think it as easy as joining Club9G then emailing the R1 guy saying you're a member & get a price delivered to your door. Some guy in the thread just recently had a full set sent to Russia for his Galant & was very pleased with the performance.

Might have been Seadevil. He had issues due hilly area etc.

So why won't they fit? Didn't the TMR have bigger stoppers?

The rotors are bigger so our calipers wouldt fit. The non Ralliart is a straight swap, same size. You could always ask them about a full upgrade to bigger rotors & brembos!! Would most definately be cheaper than the TMR setup here.

My standard pads/discs are fine for me... though I never pushed and braked the car that hard... especially not with 19s on it now.
Just out of interest, what do brake pads cost? My neighbour took a look at my fronts and nearly fell over. I've noticed drivers front squealing a little bit so he took a look while we discussed my possible trans problem. he said "um, get pads tomorrow. Without fail. Get them tomorrow and I'll fit them tomorrow. Meanwhile - don't stop suddenly!".
Front right, the caliper is nearly touching the disk...

Depends on the brand, you will need the part no DB1778 for front DB1779 for Rear, now Bendix make them in 2 lots the GCT that retail for about 60-70 bucks depending where you go, good all round pad low dust good bite, or ultimates for about 120-140, fair bit more dust, bit more noisey but once you get the heat into them they really take a hammering well, good for lots of spirited driving or towing regularly.
Dont know if other brands make pads for 380's yet i asked around but got a dull response.
Also if you want to go bigger, you have a few options, you have Brembos off the evo (need the rims to fit it though) you can get it all fitted with new rotors and pads for around 1500-2500 (depends quite a bit on where you get them and what brand discs you use) you can also look at Alcon 6 piston 384mm front brake upgrades these are the exact same as used on the TMR models just with a different coloured caliper, expect for pay 4k+ for these though
Thanks! Repco? Super Cheap? Either or price wise?

Either or, ripco might have them on shelf, super**** wont however and will need to order
Repco did both front and back on my TJ for $100 for the Bendix GCT's. Might be more though for the bigger caliper on the 380?

The db1203 and db1204 are fairly common parts and are used a few different models of car, they would buy more of those hence the cost would be cheaper

Give them a call and mention that you're a ford mods forums member and you'll get a discount.
I got my DBA Slotted and Bendix Ultimates from there last year.
Bendix General CT's $77 at Repco. Don't care on price, I'd rather be alive to mutter about the price than be dead cause I didn't pay for the good stuff.

Sydney Race Brakes will cut you a set of pads that will not fade, cost about $370 front only, had the disks glowing bright red at the end of a long down hill stage in the George Woods Rally and no fade well worth it before a disk upgrade. Not harsh on disks at all the trick is they don't gas up like the cheaper pads.

Had Bendix ultimates with DBA 4000 slotted rotors on my TJ Exec.
No squeal at all, but mountains of black dust!
Cheers
Hello,
I have done about 55K and need to replace my front brake pads. I am tossing up between the Bendix GCT or Ultimates.
I have found the factory ones to be fine for braking power and are a little dusty but the squealing is annoying.:disgusted
How do the GCT compare with the factory Mitsubishi pads for braking, dust, wear rate and noise?
How much better are the Ultimates?
Genera CT's: minimal dust, a TINY squeak when taking up the bite but they grip well and help reduce fade

I'm up to 78000km and still don't need to replace pads, mainly due to hwy driving, but I'm not happy with the braking at high speed. Needs more fade resistance.

If you dont like dust dont get Ultimates
GCT's are fine for street use more then fine actually.
Part no is DB1778 GCT for front DB1779 for rears on the 380

$680 to replace the fronts with slotted DBA rotors and CT pads. The guy from midas said that these were the only rotors he could source for the 380 at the moment. Looking forward to brakes that don't fade :D

I'm just trying to guage what price you're paying per item. I know when I got DBA 4000's for my EVO, the fronts were $230 each for the kangaroo paw slotted jobs, then I got Bendix HD pads at about $80 each. So that's $620. I would've thought smaller brakes like on the 380 would of been cheaper... Might pay to go ask your local Autobarn for a price and ask for a discount.

Seems a thread mine, but not really. just reporting back on what I ended up with.
Got Bendix Ultimates, since I wash my wheels regularly :2cool:
First hard stop from Warp drive and no shaking or shuddering and there was plenty of reserve left.
So I'm happy and recommend them. Except don't buy them from Repco like me, check with Megatron who has them for about a third less (I only found his post after I purchased :( )

I have some General CT Bendix on the go from megatron, after fitting to the TW, I'm looking forward to it.
Is it true that the Ultimates need a bit of heat in them before they really Bite?

sort off, they have been alright with me only really cold mornings in melbourne would you know the difference but i never go past 40km/h in my streets and there are a couple of stops and turns before i get out onto the main road so by then they are warm... but they are dusty as **** but they stop me well so i won't complain.

I'll complain for you then as I'm the one cleaning that brake dust **** off your wheels:P
I have CV grease all over mine, so your turn to wash my wheels:P
FYI CT's are like the base pad, so they will last longer but not bite as good as an ultimate

i had np with cold braking with the ultimates, i have had brake fade with them on extreme braking down hill, but im not 100% sure if it was the pads or brake fluid. didnt notice any extra noise with the pads but brake dust was very bad
im now trying the Heavy Duty pads, worked really well on the weekend down the hill, but terrible when cold takes about 5mins to warm up

To continue on with the off topic brake questions in the "90mm intake" thread check this link out for rotors & pads http://store.r1concepts.com/store/search.aspx?key=av07969&submit=Search
They have an ebay store too, was about $500 for a full set of rotors & pads delivered to Brisbane.

Haven't read the entire thread, so apologies if info is repeated.....
I got RDA slotted rotors onto fronts of both my cars with QFM (Queensland Friction Materials) pads - "HPX" pad compound - and they help a LOT. Not much dust, but far better peeformance than what my cars had when I bought them. (KJ Verada seemed to have pale blue painted "PBR" pads on the front, and they seemed especially poor IMO).
