Just wanna find out if its possible, and if it is what i need, how much etc...

Plan is to take the knobs and buttons etc out, and the deck and holder underneath.
So essentially probably need a whole new section of dash for it to work. What can I do?

Wow...good luck with that one dude :D

If you wanna pull out your AC dials and control it with a touch screen computer maybe you can pull out the whole dash and replace it with 40" plasma and steer you car with a PS2 controller also.

Well, anything is possible... But that being said, do you know how to program eeproms, drivers, make electronic devices, and wire USB devices with the appropriate drivers?

Or just get yourself a fusion brain, google it.. A nice USB device with plenty of IO for driving things like Climate control, power windows, garage door openers, airbag suspension, etc etc..

Not as far fetched an idea as you all think. Done many a time in the US, those guys over there are crazy... Just a bit of a browse on MP3car and you will realise that.

My system would easily handle audio and these other functions.. Considering it is an AMD X2 4850 2.4G CPU.

Anyway, my 2c.

I hate to be the "get real" guy, but I seriously doubt that you will ever replace the climate control with a carpc. Doing so will require programming as well as mechanical and electronic skills.

Then there is the question of why you would replace a quite well engineered computer that already controls your AC with another probably flakey computer that you will have to spend lots of money and time on

Have a look at some of the work people are doing over at mp3car.com and try to start small, it's much better failing at something that was cheap than failing at something that cost you everything in your bank.

Like LIFE said, anything is possible but usually at a high cost. Especially if you can't do it yourself which i gathered by you needing to ask how its done.

I have no idea if your cars climate is completely electronic or mechanical, if electronic then indeed it is possible with a program that controls switches and motors. But setting this up would be a nightmare unless you did work experience at NASA.

If you have climate control already just extend the wiring and run the factory control to the glovebox or centre console.

If i had climate i would have already done it when i did the custom dash
