Hi Guys,

I have a TE with a 3.5 99 model engine in it. About 100,000k's on the engine, full timing belt etc service done at 90,000k's

i was driving into the city today from Blacktown. The car was fine all the way into the city (about an hours drive) when it suddenly stalled whenever i stopped or decreased speed. i managed to get it into a car park by putting it in neutral at the lights to rev it until i needed to go again.

I left it for a couple of hours then came back and it was just managing to keep itself going. Then not long after again it started stalling at lights etc again. I managed to get it back home, but just wondering if someone could help me out with what to do?

I have read through the threads on here that i searched for and they all say that it may need to learn the idle etc again, however i haven't had the battery disconnected or anything, and i was driving it for long enough i would imagine it would stop stalling if it was that.

Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance.

if you have access to another battery try that.

it could be that your battery is dieing.
this happened to me and then all of a sudden one day i couldnt get it started in the morning.
bought new batter and all was fine again.

but yeh, i would say battery is dieing.

Yeah it sounds like the ECU is loosing power, and the car has to relearn the idle and gearbox settings, hence the stalling at the lights.

As above, check the battery.

I agree with above, but buy yourself a voltmeter. Should be no more than $15 and you can check the battery and the charge from the alternator. Could save you money. I found bugger all charge coming from my alternator (old Falcon) and swapped that, managed to keep the battery. Saves you killing a new battery.
