So basically, i try to start the car, it will attempt to fire, but it won't start. After 5-10 times of taking the key out and putting it back in and pumping the gas pedal, the car will start.
Sometimes, the car doesn't even do this at all - it will just start normally.
Now honestly, i don't really give a shiet about it but six months later, it's got me thinking again.
The car is still going strong, and hasn't died yet.

I've changed the fuel filter and the starter motor.
Some people said it's the immobiliser.

I'm just wondering if anyone has found out exactly what it is?

Here's a video (put your volume up to hear it attempting to start) of what it does, when it does it.
I turn the key, it will try to fire but it won't start. I do this a few times while pumping the gas pedal and it will start. What the hell.
Btw, the video was done by Lugo

hey man had this problem ages ago.
or it sames like its the same?
the problem that was mine was a faulty coolent temp sensor.
the problem is that alot of the new diagnostic tools will not pick it up, although if you do it the manual way and it comes up as code 21 then this is your problem.
hopppe it helps.

hey dunno if this helps but mine started refusing to start randomly and turned out the plug on the back of the ignition barrel was bit loose, makin immobiliser kick in. its a common fault on 3rd gens apparently. i just pushed it in tight and it was fine.

Yeah i was gunna say check this.. It is a common issue. I would be pulling the plug out and cleaning up pins to make sure its getting a good conection.

i know im pulling this out my @.....butt, i was thinking, could it be the fuel pump?
or connection to the fuel pump.

just might be randomly not turning on the pump when you turn the ignition and when you turn it off and back on, it might then start the pump?

i thought that if the immobiliser kicks in it wont even begin to fire.

Hmm, thanks for the input bro. Would a buggered fuel pump last six months of starting and driving? Or would have it died by now you reckon?

dunno, only one way to check...

i would be affraid of getting one then finding out its not the problem.

dimi have you checked the usual suspect of immobilser wiring? mine used to be so random when starting.

:stoopid:
check little and easy things before going in depth

And pull the connector off the throttle body and clean and dry and then lube up with some silicone grease or lanotec.

Worked for me on the kid's TJs
