hey guys
my dad came to me this morning telling me that he can no longer control the lecy windows from the centre console switch or the armrest one. and unable to move the front drivers seat backwards and forwards. i had a look at his fuse box and saw one blown. it is a small green 40A fuse. the funny thing is that the rear left window is 3inches down and unable to move, lol.
would the window fuse be the same for the seat as well???
and where to get a new centre console switch for the leccy windows. cos his is broken.
how much would it cost to buy the fuse and the centre console switch and where to get it. wreckers? mitsi dealers????
any help would be appreciated.
cheers stuart

what type of magna is it?
fuses you can buy from almost anywhere, just make sure you get the correct one ;)
supercheap, repco would be a start
seat may be on the same line as the windows, its like the radio being on the same line as the interior light
as for the switch, mitsubishi would charge heaps for one
try a wrecker or see if that clearence place has them seeing as your in SA

ah ok i know that part your talking about now
these things tend to break easy, but taken them apart may help fixing them
be careful when taking apart as theres some loose metal clips in there
either that or i think they were 150 new from mitsi

If he has the "operators manual" (glovebox manual) for his car, it will give basic info about fuses - remember to check fuses in drivers footwell as well as under bonnet.
The "Workshop Manuals" for that car can be found as PDF file links from a "sticky" thread in the Tech Torque forum - these would have much greater detail of info about windows/seats/wiring/fuses.
Are you aware of what may have caused the fuse to blow? If you decide to just pop a new fuse in, and it blows again- get pretty serious about trouble-shooting and being a detective to find the cause - a 40amp fuse (sure its not 30amp?) is quite a bit of power and could lead to serious "melt-age"/burning.
Check connectors under seat, where loom from car joins the loom in the electric seat - this may have been dislodged by feet or parcels under the seat - make sure loom hasn't come loose somehow, or been "monstered" by getting caught in the adjustment mechanism for the seat.
Is the window switch actually broken, or is it possibly just affected by the fuse issue? And did I get it right that he has switches in the centre-console, as well as on the doors??? That sounded odd to me, I thought TJ etc had on the doors and TL had in the console??
Anyway, good luck - hope you work it out.

its definately 40, well thats what it said on the fuse. and on the fuse box cover. also checked the fuses in the car and didnt have one spare. the fuse is about 1cm x 1cm x 1cm x 1cm. its green with a clear cover.
will check under seat next time i see him.
the car has window controls from the centre console, front passenger and the 2 rear ones.
cheers for the info tho.

thats called a fuseable link mate. there are 2 types, male and female. Most are male, but best to take it to supercrap as a sample. Most of the numpties in there wouldnt know what one was if you just asked for them.

Heres a pic of the controller disassembled.
Pull apart slowly. ( not in the car FFS)
Catch all the parts.
Check and clean all the contacts, inpect for brownouts.
Put all the parts back on their rockers ( I've done 3 here ).
Clip back together.

My electric window controller is stuffed, I often have to pull up the console and jiggle with the connector. The connector looks like it shorted or something at some point, but it's still working at the moment. Got to find a long term solution as it's a PITA (especially when you have to do it pulling up at an RBT  )
