I've got the Alpine CDE-9872E, unfortunately yes its base model and i wasnt aware when I bought it because I was offered it while I got my alarm done, but the question at the moment is:
on the alpine page for the h/u (http://www.alpine.com.au/products/product.asp?modelID=356, mentioned bottom right with the yellow and orange ticks), it mentions USB input, however I cant figure it out how there is, as far as I know I cant find a connector cable that they make to a USB input

Can anybody shed any more light on this?

I'm considering selling the h/u already and upgrading, considering it only has 1 RCA port anyway, but i'd rather just deal with it and I'd love to be able to use the USB option if I can.

Thanks for any help in advance.

CDE-9872 does not have usb, nor does the 9874. The CDE-9882 is the 1st model with it in the alpime range atm

thought i'd throw this into here instead of starting a new one

With the 9872E, would there be any pros or even ways in which to incorporate a screen?
Or would I have to upgrade h/u to use a screen as well?

Looking like a good deal for the screen so if its worth hooking up, it'd be cool

EDIT: this is the screen in question, do not know the model or anything

anyone know any more on this screen? is it a stand alone or does it need to be hooked up to a h/u?

what would you use the screen for anyway? Your unit is only CD.

But it wont work anyway, you'll need something with video out, there are generally only found on DVD models, JVC have a few good DVD units and good pricing also.

I dont know tbh, thats why I was asking because I dont know what the pros of it could be, just saw an oppertunity for a decent deal and was seeing if it was worth it

no worries think i'll leave it for now then, money better spent on other things :)

cheers
