Well I have been with Mitsubishi for a good 5 years. Was my first car 1992 4cyl TR Auto and did a great solid job, very good pick for a p-plater as insurance isn't to hefty.

I went during the week to buy a brand new 2009 Corolla for my mother and have decided to trade mine in and buy her 2005 corolla. Considering my TR had 300,000 I am happy to be driving a 68,000 car next week!!!!

The car is exactly like the one pictured!

What I won't miss from the Magna:

Big turning circle
Lagging Auto transmission
Crappy vibration at lights
Paint peeling
Size of car
etc

I will remain on the forums, I can offer advice on the law and any criminal justice area for free.

They do in other colours,no stars, but im just happy to get rid of the crappy Mitsubishi, what a waste of money, no re-sale value either ON ANY OF THE MODELS with a mitsubishi badge

I know I'm gonna cop some slack over it, but couldn't care less, better then driving a slow tank ahaha

Childish, understandable by someone who's mother bought their car.

It's a different car to the one in the pic, its already got the darkest legal tint, plastic gaurds, just needs rims.

you did drive an Auto 4cyl TR with crap paint. I would feel the same way too.
on any of the models though? Its only a positive to people like us buying them ;)

If you think about it, Magnas are no longer made and every year that goes by they get a year older (duhhhh) and some of them get written off in accidents or junked because keeping them on the road is no longer viable. So we are all going to go through this - finding something to replace the trusty Magnas we drive.

BUT!!!! A Toyota? A Corolla? What were you thinking of?

A Lancer would have been a better choice!

It does not worry me, yes the magna was a tank and I have some good times in it, but now im happy to turn the key, thrash the auto and know it clicks over smooooth.

The TR was a good p-plater car.

Lucky I drink Chivas Regal anyway.

It's through the family so have no choice really, could sell it and buy something else but really cannot be bothered with the hassle! It actually goes alright for an auto, it's easy to park and is really good on petrol! So at the end of the day makes sense to keep it, don't have a family so no point in a sedan. Would love a Honda prelude or integra but the insurance costs still kills me as im under 25. I'm happy that I have a car I won't be blowing money on repairs and in the last 3 years it has never needed more then a $130.00 service (my old lady drives slow, so its in very good condition still)

Considering I had a 4cyl Auto with the paint eating away, im very happy moving on to this. The model I (Toyota) have still sells at private for $15,000 - $16,000 I would'nt even be able to sell the magna at 300,000k's for $500 because of the paint & K's & Auto

The Magna was just chewing up my money on repairs, ate more fuel then a V6 and ran poor because of its age, when you go to trade-in or sell a Mitsubishi you won't make anything back unless its very low K's and prestige condition.

']yeah im sure they are terrible which is why they sell like 80 bazillion cars a year nah totally true terrible cars.

Agreed ^^^ The corolla is the world's number 1 best seller for a reason

& Toyota is number 1 for a reason for 5 years straight!

Good choice in car, very reliable and hold the value well. After finding out what they would give your mum as trade, I can understand why you got it.
Question.
Has it got clear side repeaters?
Does it have cup holders? :bowrofl:
Can you fit a Lukey Race?

Since when is quantity an indicator of quality?

Drove one in Darwin. I wasn't impressed. Drove a 380 in Brisbane. Now THERE'S a good car.

Of course it was childish ....it was meant to be. What did you expect when you started insulting Magnas on a Magna forum....praise. Thanks Mum for the Chaser ....goes like stink.
Anyway I really miss my Magna TR 1991 Little Red Rocket it did everything I wanted it to do....all the little mundane dirty jobs like going to the tip. Hauling crap from Bunnings. Taking my daughter horse riding over rocky dirt roads ....
the thing is Russian your going to miss yours too.

That looks like a neat and tidy pickup to me. I presume its been in the family since new? Should be trouble free for you for many years to come yet! Wish I could say the same for the new one your mum just ordered, Toyota have been having a terrible run with their new cars lately for reliability, nearly everyone I know with one made in the last year or two has been problematic.

Yes it has since new & the services since then have never cost over $130.00 and last service a week ago they said everything is still looking and running like new.

Hopefully the new one is fine, it does have a long warranty to cover anything...

they are good cars,
cheap to run, what more do you want?

Good work mate, no matter what the general thoughts are about a brand of car (personally I do not like Toyota's as I have seen them get minor hits and need major repairs) a newer car is safer, has better technology and in the end will cost you a lot less to run

Out of curiosity what did they offer you on the TR?

MadMax
26-01-2009, 08:05 AM
A good, sensible choice. Toyotas are OK. Just make sure you keep those dark coloured seats clean. The rental I drove had white stains on the passenger seat - coulda been a milk shake, coulda been male sexual excretions. A real turn off!

Why do you have to argue every god damn thing I say.
Like I said, If the 380 was so good.....howcome oh I don't know, Mitsubishi don't make them anymore?
as boring as they are they sell them because they are good.

Who is arguing? I respect your point of view and my point of view may be different (NOT opposite) and I expect the same respect from you. Obviously you are not prepared to do so, seeing you revert to swearing.

Driving pleasure is important surely? I'd drive an interesting "orphan" car like the 380 over a mainstream "appliance" car any day.

Mitsu doesn't make 380s anymore? Checked the American market lately? Mitsu is a global company, and making the Australian version of their car wasn't economically viable anymore.

Thanks, I am getting $600 for trade-in

Selling my alloys separately though, so will be pushing $1000 back in total

The car is just a smarter option for me, honestly couldn't care less about the style, Hyundai excel and braina's look worse then this lol I have driven it a fair bit anyway already without anything needing repairs - older people drive slower so its well maintained.

People can bag it as much as they like, fuel savings, performance are better then any TR/TS auto magna.

I think I went through everything with my TR over 5 years.

Thats quite silly the 380 is an excellent car and light yrs ahead of a corrola but they are different cars.
Ppl don't buy them cause ppl are idiots and the finanical ppl at mitsubishi failed miserably, predicting much more would sell than they did.

Excellent choice of car, beside what you think its very slow so you suddenly won't want to make it faster and boring enough not to bother wasting money modifying. Just put an acceptable sound system in it and enjoy trouble free motoring with low fuel consumption.

Also the state of your old car is your fault. Its probably around 15yrs old and if you had some mechanical aptitude or bothered caring for it you wouldn't have a problem. Its just aged.
Also evo's and pajero's hold their value quite well but nice girly tantrum.

It has not been brought to my attention tbh, this issue was not about "irrelevant bull****" as you put it, it was about trolling. I said back on topic and I meant it... if you have any more "concerns" PM me.

The issue has been resolved at this point... now move on please.
