Just installed some 6x9's in my TJ (Orion crossovered ones) just a little worried about the way they fit.

To me it seemed like the the chassis on the back didn't quite fit through the factory tray holes, i didn't take the carpet board out so it was difficult to see. I screwed them down anyway but now wondering if they are actually sitting nice and flat.

Is it possible they aren't fitted properly or are they all a standard size and im just paranoid?

did they screw in ok? no cross-threading or anything? and did you manage to get all 4 screws in?
if they are 6x9's they should be fine.

id say ur being paranoid :P

Take a look in the boot and see if the speaker sits evenly inside the hole, i.e. shows an equal amount of metal (speaker lip moulding) around the circumference of the hole in the parcel shelf.

Or give us some pics showing the speaker from inside the boot, with the camera directly below the magnet.

Got all screws in ok (apart from wanting to smash the ******* back window).

Good point SH00T will check that out today and possibly get pics if needed.

I had a problem fitting mine, Pioneer 6x9s.
But my problem was that the cover wouldn't fit back on
Just cut a bit out and it was fine, so I'd say they won't all fit perfectly, and bits may need adjusting, but shouldn't be too far out.

I had the same problem with the clearance under the grill, i just screwed them down anyway and left a bit of a bulge in the middle.

its funny most 6x9's that i deal with actually dont fit(clarion focal etc)... i just make up a 3mm mdf spacer so that the basket sits nicer in the hole. then on the under side of the factory grill i break away all of the supports. if the grills still dont sit nicely i put some carpet or dacron under the shelf to pump them up a bit to close the gaps
