I've noticed some TJ Sports have a removable cap on the rear bar for towbar fitment, i thought my vr-x would have the same thing but doesn't. Was this an option or something?
I don't wanna just cut a piece out as i'd like to remove the tounge when not needed.
So did some vr-x's have the cap or is cutting the rear bar all i can do?

My KH Verada had a towbar that came out underneath the rear bumper, didn't stick out a cutout or anything, and when the tongue was removed you wouldn't know it had a towbar. I'm going for a similar thing on my TL shortly.
I'm pretty sure the TL VR-X rear doesn't had the cutout either.

That would be ok but i guess there are differences between the verada and vr-x, the vr-x rear kit would hang lower than the verada bumper wouldn't it.
The VRX and the Veradas do not have a factory cutout for towbars. The VRX rear is not much lower. What my fitter did was to cut the bumper and then fit a moulding around the edges with the main body against it. The receiver has a cap on it to make it neater. See the last pic in my sig.
The VRX and the Veradas do not have a factory cutout for towbars.
To be specific, the KL DOES have the cut out for the tow bar in the bumper. The KL and KW bumper differ. My wifes KF does not have the cut out, the tow bar comes up from under the bumper without the need for a cutout...
Yep, All 3rd gen Veradas except KL as they adopted the Magna front and rear bumpers.

The TJ VR-X rear skirt sit's a little too low to fit a tow bar to...
Mine was cutout and a piece of black trim was placed around the cutout to neaten things up...
Have never seen it done any other way...
Make the call though.... to have tow bar or not to have tow bar........

The VR-Xs don't have a cap - they have to get cut out. If you look really, really closely at mine, you can even see the pencil mark where it was measured out and cut  That was from the previous owner though, so not much I can really do about it.
If you're really anal about the towbar issue, you could always do what JET-BLK did on his old car (the VR-X that murph03 owns now). He got a panel beater to mimick the cut-out of the other bumpers, and then the towbar could be fitted/removed as necessary.
