God smited that rice mesh you had down the lower section. Good on him.

As for Repairs, its a common colour, common car, go to a wrecker and get a bumper, bonnet, headlights, grille, indicators and you shouldnt be set back more than $500 at the absolute most.

Of course that is all cosmetic, as for mechanical repairs.......pull the remainder of the front end off and inspect and go from there...

You may even find headlights/indicators on here for next to nothing as alot of members would have their exec lights left over from installing parabolics.

cheers for the advice, i'll need to start a WTB thread for all the parts i need. What does everyone think about putting a TJ or TH bonnet on a TE, good or bad idea?

TH bonnet will fit no dramas, they are the same.

TJ bonnet will fit but requires a new latch which you can grab at the wrecker aswell. And a different grille of course :)

Since you are getting a new bumper, get a TH/TJ one as they look better and should cost the same as a TE/TF one anyway. But also gives you the ability to install a VRX kit down the track if you so desire, if not they just look better anyway.

also, im pretty sure i need a new (the bar runs above the headlights, that holds the radiator in place) as it is bent, is it replaceable?

i dont think it would be that hard, im goin to have a go at it myself, to save on the $45 an hour that Mechanics charge

Hop onto here and see what's at the wreckers

http://www.jollysupullit.com.au/Home/Home.asp

Although my experience at the wrecker is 99.999% of cars have had a front end smash. Look at the higher numbers (in the 30,000's range), they're newer and less likely to have been cannabilised too much yet. #34145 looks to have a fairly intact left headlight, grill and bonnet - in white too. Bumper has a biggish dent front right, but I'm not good enough to say how bad/hard to fix that.

Shout if you want a hand at the wreckers one weekend, I'll come over and help dig through the cars.

Also; let us know your paint code. I think you have a TE, so probably Paris White (WP) but could be Sarajevo White. It's stamped into a plate on the firewall next to the VIN plate. Nothing matches worse than 2 different whites, I know - neighbour painted my spoiler Mawson Whitre because he though I had a TH. And it is very obviously different (which is why it isn't fitted yet).

looks like the quarter panel is dented to, how hard are they to replace?

About 10 bolts, not terribly hard, especially since the lights/bumper are going to be off anyway.

i'll have to get back to you dave, in about 3 weeks. i need to buy my school gear fisrtly. then im guessing that i can save a $150 a week to put towards my car, getting the parts that are more difficult to come by first.prolly starting with a white TH front bumper (so i can get the vrx kit later on)

Im not sure of the paint code, my car is at home( and i cant open the bonnet :P), but its a 96 TE fairly old

I did say have Scott! Im not charging you for them! lol

The colour of your car should be Paris white not Mawson like mine. TH onward were Mawson from memory so getting a bar to match will be a bit difficult.

sweet man, that would be great:D . at least i wont be scared to drive it at night. i dont think i can legally drive without the bonnet being able to open though. i just need to get the thing back on the road. im a little gutted about that bumber, coz i like the look of that kit. how different are the 2 whites?

its all good, i can have a 2 tone body kit. cept the tones are only slightly different :P

I reckon its really noticeable. The Mawson is more "white" whereas the Paris has a bit of cream/grey through it, my opinion of course!

I sat my Mawson White spoiler onto my Paris White boot and it was very obviously different, especially in overcast conditions. Paris looks more yellow to me - hence the spoiler will be resprayed.

Edit, just took this to show the differnce - hope it's clear enough

Scott worse comes to worse, and you need your car fixed, just get panels any color. if it needs to be fixed it needs to be fixed.

scottmuecke

ok, im conviced to get anything 'paris white' now :P

stuff the TH bumper idea right off unless it would be relatively cheap to get sprayed

Ur right man, but i rather be off the road for a few extra weeks than have to get panels resprayed or get new ones later.

when i get home tomoorw, i will take a good look at the car and see if i can get the bonnet to open, i'll take off all the bumpers to see if theres any damage underneth.
i think i'll need to do some adjusting with a mallet

i reckon u might be able to get away with the bumper. strip it off and check the tabs, if the covers in good condition heat it with a heat gun so it pops back into shape let us know what brackets are bent like i said got a complete TJ bar here u can have, reo's might be the same.

wont be perfect but at least it will look half decent.

reckon a hair dryer would do the job?
perhaps some fire?jks
thanks man, i might take you up on that, no matter what color. i'll just get it back on the road like paul suggested and worry about making it pretty later.

sorry, but whats a a 'reo'?

hopefully i can get the light off dave and the grill off nemisis, then all i need to get is a bonnet, and she'll be running good. i thought the damage was a lot worse.

any sugestions for getting the bonnet off?
its kinda stuck

Inspect the locking mechanism and you should figure it out. Otherwise use a hammer on the latch or worst case scenario an angle grinder will fix it....

Progress made.

I i bend the bonnet slightly so it now opens and closes.
I've take the front bumbper off and its gone back into shape.

all i need is a bonnet RHS light and indicator and a grill.
and i hope to god the beam than runs just infront of the radiator is replaceable.
the beam and radaitor have been shoved back and the bonnet wont catch the latch, the mid radiator supports are bent and have torn a little from the welds. I'll upload some pics around 4pm

the front reo looks ok to me, those raidator supports is what id be worried about, check the bonnet hinges for alignment that top support is bent along way back  but anything can be fixed you should see how my TF started out
