Has anyone put a sub into the spare wheel? Would love to see if anyone has as I'm thinking of doing this.

where else would you put the spare though? dunno bout NZ but I know Aus you are required to have a spare wheel in the car afaik (correct me if I'm wrong).
It would definately be interesting though, I havent heard of anyone on here doing it, but has potential for an idea :)

I'm in the process of doing the same thing.
Most of it will be made from FG and using my 19" spare asthe box of sorts.
I'm after flat floor and looking as stock as possible.

I have this set up... there are some "progress" pics in my members ride thread..
its great.. sounds insane.. I put out a pretty good db with 7yr old ****ty pioneer subs..
its great i can still fit eskys and everything in the boot... when im going on long trips I just chuck the spare in the boot and use a jocky strap to hold it in place with the tools wrapped up inside the wheel.. I have more room in the boot that way then i did previously with a dual sub box in their.. you do loose a bit of height which is annoying every now and again..

one answer to the no spare tyre option is the inflation kits that are getting more and more common now
they're useless for sidewall splits but apparently can repair small punctures in the tread

yeah i've done the sub in the spare wheel and false floor set up in my car looks completely stock and sound great. mines made of fibreglass and mdf took a good two days coz youre gota wait for every layer of fibreglass to dry. some advice when youre fibreglassing is to try and let the car air out as much as possible otherwise you'll end high:D .

oh yeah , i just carry 1 can of tyre cement and 1 can for inflation around town, but never used them, i've had 2 flats in the 4 years or so that i've had the install like that and both times just called and got a mate or family to bring me my stuff...
depends how much space you need. you could quite easily make a sub box to fit the wheel well INSIDE the spare tyre. so if you need your spare, just lift out the box and unscrew the wheel. obviously there wouldnt be nearly as much space this way, but still enough to fit a 12" sub.
Woob - if I get the chance I'll scan in what Streetmachine magazine done. Same idea.
Comes up real trick, though you need some decent wood working skills to make it look good.

Nice I like it. I would just mount the amp above the sub in the false floor.
In NZ you don't have to have a spare.
I'm going to see how much enclosure space I can get if I were to make a glass enclosure that sits in the spare wheel.

hmm just tried to use a 235/45 17 as a spare, doesn't leave much room to put the sub and amps without raising the floor a lot.
