Guys,
I need some advice, the past couple of days the Ralliart has been making a whinning noise on startup

The noise cuts out after the engine starts normally...it sounds like the starter motor overturning on startup

The noise is is high pitched, like an angle grinder cutting steel (steel on steel) it happens for a few seconds after the key is turning and the engine cranks

It dosnt happen all the time, happens more often on warm starts, very rarley on cold starts

Im pretty sure its the starter motor....has anyone else had a similar issue?

If so, I'de say its possible your ring gear is showing signs of wear...

:bowrofl: I thought the exact same thing when i read the title.

sounds very much like the starter motor clutch inside the drive assembly has given up the ghost,take it to a auto elec for a check over,may only need a drive assembly only,happens alot

Thanks Steevo, i took it to Mitsu this morning and their gona have a look at the starter motor next monday
