Hi there. my mate has a magna TS V6 auto and a wile back now i was being a fool and showing off in my magna by doing a burnout and when i finnished it the 4th gear no longer works:rant: . When driving along it goes to go into 4th but when it does it just revs like its in nutral (N) But when the engine is hot it goes into 4th sometimes:redface: . Im guessing its something electronic as it never would have got into 4th gear by doing a burnout. I checked the magnets in the auto trans sump and theres no shavings of metal in it. the oil seems to be fine. If anyone knows what it could be please tell me as i have been searching everywhere for answers!! Thanks.

I had the exact same problem with First gear in my old car, ended up needing a re-condition (drive plate slowly became round with out any metal teeth) Over-drive band ended up shredding
Does it REV out with O/D selected??
Could be an actual damaged drive plate / or band (oil might now have metal fragments)
Could also be the TCU (Transmission control Unit) is damaged
Wait for Madmagna to reply or msg him, he know's his 2nd gens.

hi there. I have reset the TCU by disconection the battery but it made no difference. and when it is in OD it doesnt go above 3rd gear so it doesnt rev out. I am doing a service on my tans soon so i will check for bits of metal. I couldnt imagine it being a cog or anything because it only stayed in 1st gear when i was doing the skid but i just remembered it was making a vibration noise when i was doing it. maybe it is the gear. i have no idea lol. i dont know anything about transmissions lol.

Dont worry about the TCu etc, it is the overdrive in the trans that has died, it is not that hard to replace if you know how but better to get it done, is not all that expensive
If you do a search there is a guide here somewhere on how to do it from memory
