Hey all. My parents have an '01 Pajero exceed and today, driving in the heat in south oz apparently the central diff light has come on and stayed on and the green lights displaying which wheels are being driven have turned off.
Does anybody have any insight into what may have caused this? Low diff oil or overheat could be possibilities. It's towed a caravan thru 40 degree heat for a month but recently had a major major service.
Thanks

id be making sure there is oil in it.

Knowing next to nothing about the car i cannot help other than that but i have heard other people emptying diffs and not refilling.

Have things only changed since the service?? and what occured during said service.

All diff oils, engine oil, coolant, transmission oil. brake fluid, power steer fluid were changed at last service. Since then it's travelled over 4,000km with no worries at all, with a heavy caravan travelling behind. I know that 3/4 of the trip the 5 speed auto sat in 4th gear at highway speed, 5th wasnt powerful enough. Anyway can pretty well assume everything was done right after the service considering the travelling it's done since then. I think it's the heat and the constant towing thats caused this light to come on. I've tried searching but most pages say if the orange centre diff light is flashing then something is wrong, but nothing about it just staying on while rear diff lights are off

the first thing i would try it TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC!!!!!!!

Vehicle is in outback south oz with no mobile reception.. I'm in QLD.. no mechanics within 100km of it. Tryin to do some homework to see if they might be safely able to drive it to a town with mechanic.
