Quick question, My car is a V6 TS SE with ABS, it has the same twin pot calipers found on the KS verada, yeah?
I ordered some rotors off ebay for the KS with ABS, got them, mechanic reckons they dont fit, on the box the ebay shop sent me it says they are for a TE/TF, emailed the shop i bought them off and he reckons my car doesnt have the same brakes as the KS verada.
Any quick replies would be much appreciated.

As far as I know your brakes should be the same (I think), however the rotors might be different if they are in fact from a later model Magna.

Yay, i got him to admit fault finally, after looking it up he worked out the kit he sent me should fit the car and now i get to send them all the back to Western Australia just for him to send me out another, sometimes saving money is more hassle then its worth.
The 2nd gens with v6 and ABS had the same ventilated rotors and twin floating piston callipers up front and ventilated single piston callipers down back. The 3rd gens (except ralliart and AWDs) have the same sized (diameter) ventilated rotors but single floating piston callipers up front and same sized (diameter) solid rotors down the back.
Vlad, try saying that after a couple of stiff drinks lol
My TS brakes were always far superior to the brakes on my current TJ. Just about the only thing i miss

Blame it on the heat. My work's power board is melting and we have to cut down on power usage. Yep, my KS' brakes were better than my dad's TJ.
Its also amazing how my AWD manages to pull up considering it weighs in at 1700kg compared with my dads TJII Exec at approx 1450kg.
would love to get the twin-piston AWD setup on my TJ. Heard good things...

Ok, To put it in point form for all
TR/S 4cyl (except abs models)
Front 256mm Vented DB421
Rear 258mm Solid DB422
TR/S v6 NON ABS and TR Elite
Front 276mm Vented DB425
Rear 258mm solid DB422
TR/S ABS model
Front 276mm Vented DB425
Rear 266mm Vented DB423
TS Wagon (ABS)
Front 276mm Vented DB425
Rear 284mm Vented DB427
Third Gen
TE - W
Front 276mm Vented DB425
Rear 258mm solid DB426
TJ > AWD
Front 294mm Vented DB417
Rear 284mm Vented DB429
So you will see from this that with exception to the 4cyl Magna second gen and AWD the front rotors are ALL THE SAME. I can not work out how this guy gave you the wrong rotors unles you have a 4cyl non abs second gen which by your OP you do not have.

Out of curiosity, how much did these cost
Minor correction to the above list by madmagna. The AWDs had vented rears. The TJ Ralliart also had the same sized rotors and the AWDs.

I got them for $130 for both both the front rotors, including postage, with brake pads.
My mechanic quoted me $130 a side, so i thought i got out of it pretty good, i just checked the model number on the side of the packaging and it says DBA425, that is really weird they should fit, maybe i just got a dodgy batch, the mechanic just said to me the holes dont line up properly.

Another brain tickler for the magna buffs on here, sent the brakes back to the store owner, they compared them to another set and said the only difference they could spot is the ones they sent me have a lip on the inner ring on them and the others don't, does this sound weird to anyone?
I rang my mechanic back today also just to ask him why they wouldn't fit, he said the hole in the middle of the rotor was either to big/small to fit on the hub, he couldn't remember exactly, would this explain the lip on the dodgy rotor getting in the way?
So frustrating im getting nowhere and soon enough my car wont be stopping nowhere.

Sounds to me like they have sent you the rears lol
The rotors should be flat, I can not recall a lip on them but then again I do not have a pair off a car here lol
Will check to see if I have a pair at home and take a pic front and rear

Well heres a link to the shop i bought them from, and links showing their front and rear rotors, save you going to look for rotors, i have no idea what i should be looking for in the pictures.
Rear:

I got the shop to ring my mechanic and clarify the problem, they should get back to me shortly, hassles hassles hassles.

Question:
Do you trust your life in a set of 100 dollar brake rotors? you are seriously seriously risking yourself with those, who knows what the cast is like on them, one decent pull up and you could end up making love to a tree (and not in a good way)
Cost cutting on car consumables is just very plan bad.
Considering you can get RDA or DBA rotors for around 170 a pair anyways (AS approved, and actually have a proper warranty)

Well if the pic of the fronts is what they sent you, they are rears!!!!!
Obviously the brand is unknown, from the little I have just found out about them I would not use them at all.
I will only use DBA, RDA or Protek. If going non slotted I prefer Protek as they do not tend to warp and are also a balanced rotor out of the box unlike DBA
Also a pair of rear rotors WITH pads, $125.00 mate they will either be the most dodgy quality and I would be VERY worried about them coming apart due to crap casting.

I have had issues with heaps of DBA's. Generally if someone wants DBA these days I tell them to be ready to machine them after a few months. After this they are ok though.
You will not fel any inbalance in a rotor but when they are balanced it is just a little bit better.

Well i just received the new brakes, this time they aren't the Taipan brand one, they sent me RDA brand ones, i feel a little safer now because this brand at least has a bit of a name for itself, hope these ones fit.
