...as soon as i turn on the HVAC system that is. For the first few minutes when the HVAC fan is turned on i can smell something that smells like nail polish remover. I guess it could be some paint or clear coat that's in the external vents (between the windscreen base and bonnet). Car was in the panel shop for the last week getting some panel damage fixed so that would explain that.
Now, how do i get rid of the smell? Can i use some sort of deodorizer in the vents to neutralize the smell? Coz i prefer getting high some other way :P

leave the car running with all windows open and aircond on for about an hour in an open area.
mate i had exactly the same thing when i had my door reskinned after it was scraped like yours. I believe its some sealant that is used within the door, dont worry it doesnt last long.

The smell comes from the vents as soon as the fan is turned on then goes away after about 5 to 10 mins. Can't be sealant as that smell would always be there.

The vapours from the curing paint or sealant may be collecting in the HVAC tract and they clear when air is forced through them when you turn the fan on. It doesn't have to smell all the time to be the sealant. Ventilate the car, but the smell will only go when the solvents have stopped evaporating.

I have something similar on my TH, mainly when you pull up to a stop or idle.Smells like nail polish/petrol, Ive looked under the bonnet and traced the smell back to the charcoal cannister. Could this be the culprit?

Just park it in the sun with the windows down, the smell goes away after a while, mine had bad it after getting resprayed as the front screen was out at the time and just covered in plastic.
