View Full Version : a thought on Ralliart Parts

i know you "need" VIN numbers and what have you not, to get "ralliart parts" as such,
but for those who want a Ralliart Kit (bodykit) i wonder if you have tried your local smash repairs??
cos i just had a thought, people who need to get cars fixed, do so through smashrepairs.
assuming they go direct to mitsu, perhaps when they order items such as kits for the rallart etc, they overlook the "genuine" enquiry and just order and buy the parts. ??
err.. i hope you understand what im going on about, but in a nutshell, prehaps ask your local smash repair joint if they can get ralliart body parts, on a "fake broken ralliart" :doubt:
just my thought for the day, and wondering if anyone had actually tried it :)

I'd have thought the smash repairer would quote the VIN off the vehicle they are reparing, and source the parts legitimately that way..
But if you found a shifty place you could probably get them to quote a VIN off someone else's ralliart they'd repaired earlier - I mean it's not like you've got a quota on replacement parts so Mitsu are unlikely to car just how many new wings or front bars they supply per car.
But if you're going to take that route, why not just walk onto a used car lot where they are selling a ralliart and jot down the VIN number when the dealer isn't looking? lol
Not that I'd condone that kind of behaviour ;)

Yep, you do have to give the VIN number.
I was trying to get a tiny little part and got hassled a bit. Good thing i had the car there so i just pointed at it and said there it is.
Even if you do have a VIN number of a Ralliart do you really want to pay the prices.
For instance, when i got the part i wanted, i had a look through the price list and saw that the front lip, just the lip, not the bar is $581.
Rear bar is $1000.
Is this really worth it ??

not really though wat would they do its not like they can take ure car ? More to the point, since we have a couple of Ralliart owner members, why not ask one of them to generously 'Donate' their parts to a reputable bodykit manufacturer (SSV, Fibermotive etc) for a short while to take molds so there is an alternative source. (All AMC members to receive discounts from said shop of course )
I'm sure the shop would repair any blemishes to paint work caused by the mold, so I couldn't see any problem there.
It's been done with the VRX kit so i don't see why not for the Ralliart!
Alternatively, to find a VIN No. by searchin through the tradingpost etc... I've often seen where car yards quote the VIN.
Just a though:think: .. or 2

No offence to anyone but i wouldnt give out my VIN number or give my bodykit to someone to make a mold out of.
Half the reason i bought this car is that it is different and they arent to many of them on the road.
It would cheese me off a little to pay 35k for the car and then some guy in a older or lesser model rocks up next to me with the same bodykit.
Different with the VRX as it is a production model.
The Ralliart is supposed to be a special limited edition.
How do you think a VL Walkingshaw owner feels when a young kid in a rusted out old 86 exec VL pulls up next to him and it has a replica Walkingshaw kit on it ??

Good point. Pity it isn't exactly difficult to get the VIN when it's on the rego sticker.

i've got a mate who's parents have an R8 clubsport. when his parents damaged the front bar he asked to keep the old one. The guys at the panel shop said that the only way they could get a new one was to send the old one back and they had to cut it in half first. this is for the same reason that you can't just buy a ralliart kit, and it wouldn't surprise me if you had to do something similar with the ralliart kit. which just goes to show that they are determined not to let just anyone get their hands on special edition kits. i think you will find that quoting someones vin number will not help ya
just a thought

If you know the right people you can get ralliart parts. If you know someone at the dealership you're set.
