Hey there Fellow Magna Owners..

I need a part number.....PLEASE!!

02 TJ VR-X series 2 magna.
5 Speed Tippy auto with Traction control.

Code 72 on the diagnostics.. traced back to a faulty vacuum control solenoid valve.
It's in the firewall next to the passenger side front shock tower... (There's two valves.. ones a ventilation valve.. the other is the vacuum control solenoid valve)

During the higher temps the last few weeks cos' it's summer (durrr!) sitting in traffic both my "TCS Off" light and "check engine" light illuminate.
Nothing happens in the way the car drives.. she doesn't lose power, shake or die.
It only happens when the daytime temp is high, and the car has been idling in traffic for at least 20-25minutes.... If I'm driving from A to B without sitting around for ages... it doesn't come on... also when I park the car... the lights go out and don't come back on till the same thing happens... traffic, hot day etc.

I picked up a valve off an older magna from a wrecker and it fixed the problem for a while... but as the donor car had some 300,000 + ks I didn't think it would last long..
When tested on a 12 volt battery, it gave me mild electric shocks... and didn't click like a fresh solenoid should...

Soooooooo I rang mitso, told them what i needed, and they couldn't find the part number (And price!)
told them it's in chapter 13A of the workshop manual... still 3 hours later no joy.....

So does anyone have the part number and price of this little bundle of joy??

I do know that the same valve is used in second gens (Where I got my wrecker ones from)
2nd gens have them on the firewall too more toward the centre and by itself.

Here's a picture of the little mongrel!

This is a screen shot from the manual of what the valve looks like

are you able to take it off. Most mitsi parts have part numbers on them.

Yes,
The original one has been off for a few weeks... It doesn't have any partnumber that they recognise.
I went to mitso today again and one of the guys I know well had another look... I brought the old one to them with the workshop manual printout and after two attemps (There are a few on the 3rd gens) Looks like the correct part will arrive in the morning...

Thanks

Steve
