The third gen section has one so why not us?

So how many KM do you have on your car?

My Verada XI did 320 or just over before the tranny gave out. Seems the 300 mark kills the 2nd Gen :(

I think we have a winner! Over half a million Km on a 4 banger must be a record. Now if Mitsu could make an auto box that lasted as long we'd all be happy.

We have had a TR 2.6 SE Auto in the family since new... just about to tick over to 400k and still going strong...
Everything still works.. it starts first go and just wont die.. Pound for pound I believe the GenII's are the best value for money hacker around... sure they might idle rough, the clear coat and paint might fade, the roof lining will sag and they use a bit of fuel but they are simple to fix, parts are plentfiful and cheap and even the auto's will last IF you use the right ATF and flush them every 40,000k's... unfortunately many of them have not had that level of attention which is why they fail....Same with the engine.. fresh oil AND filter every 5,000k and they go and go....
Engine mounts, TPS, Stepper Motor, Shocks, Auto ECU have all been replaced (some more than once) and of course Timing Chain.. but the head has never been off and the auto is original oh and it had a Transmission cooler fitted from day one which I think makes a huge difference...!
It's easy to criticise a 16 year old car.. but the facts are by this stage of their lives they have had a variable service history and infrequent TLC... Fresh oil every 5k and fresh ATF every 40k (oh and collant flush with decent coolant every 40k's as well) and they go and go and go... Long live the Gen II!

Aye! i hope to keep mine till 400,000kms, if i drive more, lol... only doing 300 to 400kms a week, so its still got a while to go yet.

Does anyone that owns a 2nd gen get all sorts of crink and crack noises from the inside, or is it just mine. when i drive i hear a crack here and a crack there. i just think its old age, hehe.

If you look after your car and maintain it well, it will look after you

My friends TR 4 banger has 183***kms on it. she just had to get the lifters replaced, cos half of them were damaged.
but still quite quick.

I feel sorry for all those 2nd gen magnas and verada that get neglected and mistreated :doubt: . but atleast their parts will go to good use. :)

328,000 kms on a '94 TR, genuine miles and never reconditioned as far as I know. uses a bit of oil, no water leaks, and only just had the clutch slave cylinder replaced.

355KKms so far on my 94 KS; have been driving it like it was stolen since I bought it 125KKms and it finally looks like the auto has given up today; will see what the shop says on Monday it looks like I will have to finally get a new car if it's big $$ !

Damn they don't build cars like they used to...
