Ok guys, pretty lame post i know, but just want some opinions on what i should do to my magna next.
Im thinking window tinting, exhaust system (includin extractors), rims, or some kind of engine mods... I have changed my mind to many times to do it on my own haha...

In order of first to last:

Debadge (if not done already)
Lowering (if not done already)
Tinting (Privacy is good)
Rims (Transforms the entire look of the car)
Exhaust (Don't want to be restricting your performance mods)
Exterior (KJ Grille, Clear side indicators, etc...)
Performance mods

Debadge (if not done already) um i know i sound like a tool, but how, i dont wanna ruin the paintwork...

Lowering (if not done already) lowered 2 inch... might not be enough but...

Tinting (Privacy is good) hmmm and cheap - i like

Rims (Transforms the entire look of the car) hmmm expensive... i hate money

Exhaust (Don't want to be restricting your performance mods) i like the varex ones lol

Exterior (KJ Grille, Clear side indicators, etc...) i asked at mitsu how much that grill is, omg its like i think they said 120... lol
Performance mods

anyways thanks for that mate!!!

That doesn't answer his question about how to do it though does it.

OP: Apply some heat to the area with a hairdryer, use nylon fishing wire to "cut" the badges away from the body of the car taking care not to scratch the paintwork (after heating the sticky stuff should be pretty soft). Then use some sort of non abrasive solvent and a soft cloth to clean up the goo thats left behind (some people recommend something like eucalyptus oil - I think I used kerosene from memory, and then washed the car straight afterwards)

Rims (Transforms the entire look of the car) hmmm expensive... i hate money

Rims aren't too expensive if you buy second-hand. I've been eyeing off a few nice 18x8 sets second-hand in the last few weeks - both guys only wanted $500-600 for them. You're probably not going to get change out of a grand if you decide to do extractors and a catback exhaust, so in comparison it's not that expensive.

Changing the rear muffler to your car would be a great idea. It's the only difference between your model Magna and the TJ VR-X - yet the VR-X is a fair bit faster. You could do extractors + catback, but changing the rear muffler alone is significantly cheaper, and will provide the majority of a performance increase.

Debadging is a great idea. My only amendment to Black Beard's method is to buy some 'goo remover'. I used 'Orange Power' branded stuff from Coles. It's not harmful, but it works a treat to remove the remainder of the glue. I've had some bad experiences with eucalyptus oil so I wouldn't recommend using it on paint.

extractors and exhaust.. depends who you know with how much it costs...

Yeah, I saw some on eBay. I also saw some on Boostcruising (http://www.boostcruising.com)'s classifieds. If you aren't too fussy, there's heaps of 17" and 18" wheels going for pretty good prices.

Those are actually REALLY good prices from Mitsu. The grille will cost you circa $280 anywhere else.

KJ grille im pretty sure is chromed metal (could be wrong) and then painted black over the backs of the chrome
but if this is too expensive for you, chrome tape stuff can work a treat if you just lay it in a similar way to a KJ over your existing grille

Kj grilles from Mits now cost at least 240 and that was a trade price quote i got

Are u serious?!?! Rallairt grilles should be like $400 from Mits. GROUP BUY

Im betting that Verada grille they quoted u on would be the Ei version it is a bit cheaper then the Xi

apparently the warehouse has HEAPS of stock. I even gave him a 2nd Ralliart VIN number and the same deal, $104. They are in receivership at Penrith, so you have to visit them and pay and order the part and it normally takes 1 day to arrive. So a little bit of hassle but saving $300 :D :D

Unfortunantly yes you do :)

Mine has been plastic welded, my car is a TH... I've just done a TJ boot lid conversion, so when I got the boot sprayed I also got the keyhole filled, looks so much cleaner...

Ei has a painted surround and chrome inside, Xi is fully chrome outside and inside.

Quick secret, the Ei grille is only painted :) You can use paint stripper to turn it in to an Xi grille.

So its the one dealership and its warehouse thats having its sale? I'm guessing that if I went to my local dealership and they ordered the part in, it wouldn't be at the bloody cheap price? :(

Dave

possibly. I am going down there Saturday morning and ask about buying heaps of stock. Will also enquire about other parts as its likely that a whole raft of stuff will be going cheap. Might be able to get some group-buys going and then distribute around auz. Cant promise anything though because I am bloody busy at the moment with work

1) how much you got to spend, really? not dreamy..
2) what do you want? want it to look good? or go better?
3) as nice as the KJ grille is dont piss your money away on crappy little mods like that IF you wanna stand out.
Lower it more, as said already, get some rims, you'll pick up 17"s with rubber for $500 easy. A detail doesnt go a stray either.

Or performance mods? Well unless you have $6K you wont be going much faster, only thing which you could look at getting done which will actually make it a bit faster is a manual conversion...if that's not up your alley look at some cams.

I am off to Top Gear Live on saturday arvo so I might trek over to Penrith saturday morning. According the parts guy, surplus 100 ralliart grilles in stock. countless more KJ verada grilles too
