Hi I'm new and just like to say awesome site! Already done a heap of searching/browsing and learnt a huge amount about my car (2003 TJ Wagon Exec) in the past few days.

However, I can't seem to find any instruction on removing the rear left inside panel to get to my power aerial that's cactus. I've been looking for screws, clips etc but am afraid of breaking clips by just randomly pulling on the edges. Any ideas?

Hi, I'm also new here and picking up some useful tips on a 98 Verada wagon we recently bought.

Out of necessity I did some discovery learning on the rear trim, after we drove into heavy tropical rain for the first time and immediately had water poring down the seat belts onto the kids. Turned out to be missing seals from the side windows.

IIRC it went something like this;

Lower rear seat
remove cargo blind receptacle
remove restraint loops from floor
remove carpet
remove timber floor panels
remove upper and lower tailgate trims (screws and press clips)
pull back rubber tailgate seal where it overlaps side trim
feel around for where the side trim retaining clips are located and pop them off
maneuver trim piece forward and clear of the seat latch

After I had it all off and saw how it went together it only took 15 minutes to get it all back together.

If you take your time and examine each piece closely for hidden clips etc I think you'll have no trouble. You shouldn't need any more than hand pressure to release any of the clips.

Hopefully an expert will chime in here.

Good luck.

Thanks kmh001 :D

Managed to replace the aerial without breaking any tabs, now works perfectly!

Next up, replace the head unit and speakers....

Thanks heaps for the 'how to'.

I'll be using it shortly as i have a new Aerpro aerial to install.

We attampted this recently, but got stuck at the cargo blind receptacle.

The wrench could reach the bolt.

What did you use?

Regards,

Shanan.

Thanks for the guide. The removal of the aerial is quite straightforward .
My fault is an aerial that no longer raises or retracts, and the aerial won't compact to its smallest size.
One question though:
I imagine the Mitsubishi aerial will cost a zillion dollars. Is there an aftermarket replacement available that will fit the position and wiring layout?

Thanks

Supercheap have after market aerials for magnas, both with and without motors that are a lot cheaper than Mitsu ones.
