Hi there, this is my first post but I've been using the forum for a coupla months now... it's great!

I've been lucky/unlucky enough to inherit my Dad's TS V6 auto sedan with 235,000km. It's in top nick considering, but in the last cuppla days it has developed an unusual noise at anything above light-mid loading, between about 1700-2600RPM. Above that and it goes away. I have a fair bit of mechanical experience myself and this sounds like either a very muffled exhaust rattle (from a baffle?) or a pump type noise, possibly from the tranny. My old man drove like an old lady and while I do push it a lot harder, it's still a long way from abusive.

Tranny oil is full and clean.

In the driveway I've had the car loaded up in gear (ie making the noise) and have pushed against the exhaust in various places with no change in noise. Does anyone know of similar problems and their causes (ie transmission problems) or am I just worrying over a little old exhaust rattle? If it's something big then I want to start planning ASAP as I am unemployed at the moment and any heads up I can get will be of great benefit.

Thanks

Common issue with many v6 front wheel drives are the engine pipes, they have a splitter internally which comes loose

Check for that firs

Thanks Madmagna, it certainly is sounding more and more like an exhaust rattle of some sort.
