Recently my reverse lights have not been working, I checked the bulbs they are fine, couldnt find the fuse.

What drives the lights? A cable coming from the gearbox? what should I be looking for? All my other lights are working fine. Reverse lights just wont come on. Also at times its hard to select reverse would that have anything to do with it? ( ie have to clutch out, clutch in select a forward gear then it goes into reverse)

I had this happen on my third gen but im sure this applys for 1st gens to, the gearbox switch needs replacment
not to sure on where it is on the 1st gens maybe someone else could help out with that one!

Checked the fuse?

the fuse should be either under the bonnet near the firewall on the drivers side or under the kick panel at your bottom right of the steering weel if i remember correctly... I'll double check when i get home to my car.

Reverse switch on your box will be the culprit.

Thanks for the replies guys really appreciate it, i've checked the fuses in the interior fuse box and they are fine. i haven't checked the ones in the engine bay. I'll check them.

If its the reverse switch on the gearbox how hard is that to fix / replace? its a 5 speed manual.

Should be on the top of the box mate. Also another stupid question, When you checked the bulbs was there any discoloration on the bulb itself? did you flick it with your fingers to see if the filament was broken? did you try a new bulb anyway to cancel that possibility out?

Just unplug the loom from it and screw the switch off.. 5mins tops.

Check the globes has TUFFTR as mentioned.
