My mums selling her TJ so i removed her pioneer headunit and put the stock one back in
everything works fine apart from the electric aerial (wont go up or down)
I have two wires which im sure have something to do with it
ones blue and the other white (the white one is seperate and runs up behind the console by the look of it)
i am able to plug the blue one into the back of the stock headunit but it doesnt do anything
what am I missing, I'm a n00b when it comes to these things
picture of the two wires:

Where does the blue one lead. The white one should def be in the back of the HU tho. and the blue one should also.. Pic of the back of the HU please?

the blue one leads back to the main bunch of wires which go into the head unit
on the back of the head unit theres a spot for a long pointy one which is taken, theres a spot for all the main wires which is taken and then there is one small spot left which fits the blue wire
this sounds so n00by lol

So the control cable would not go back into the head unit. The long pointy one is actually your aerial. So if you plug the blue one into the white one might be what is needed to let the aerial know the radio is on. the one left on the back is for the cd stacker feature I believe.

In cars with the "mobile phone power connection" in the floor-console (near gearstick), I have a strong suspicion the Blue wire is for Tel Mute - I assume the blue wire near back of your HU would be an audio mute, coming thru the loom from teh lower console.
BUT, best way to be sure is to check the Wiring Circuit diagrams - go to tech Torque forum, look for Workshop Manual "sticky" thread, find the Link to PDF files for your model of Magna/Verada, and download the factory service manual pdf's. It will detail the wiring config and colours for 4-spkr, 6-spkr, and 8-spkr audio systems..... thusly, you should be able to work out what the stray blue wire and stray white wire are for.
The corrugated tubing around the white wire looks a bit suss to me, not sure that either of my Tj or KJ have wiring in dash with that covering - maybe its an after-market addition by previous owner?
Elwyn - corrogated tubing - Conduit :)
Could be factory, might not be?

That could be so but why would they tube it? I assume they would tape it to other wires. I've only seen power wire tubed through the firewall. compliments of alberts

Sshayne,
I had a look at the Workshop Manuals last night - wasn't a whole lotta help cos I didn't know what series (TJ Series I, MY01, or Series 2) or model of audio was standard in your mum's car.......
I looked at Series 1, and on some Audio set-up's the Tel Mute blue wire was supposed to be in the multi-pin plug at back of Radio, not a seperate single-contact connector. HOWEVER, I only looked at TJ Series One base-model (4-spkr audio) wiring diagram - so there could be variations ....... I know for a fact the radio in our TJ Series I is different to what came in in my Sports (which I think is either MY01 or Series 2), but I have altered each since and don't recall the set-up at all. Sorry, NOT gonna pull em out in this heat either !!! (We have finally got your hot spell up here).
MrG, I just dunno about that corrugated "conduit" :) - its just struck me as outta-place, looks to me more like what is used under the bonnet, rather than the softer "plain" conduit as on the blue wire. If the white wire has been a non-original addition, someone may have wanted to protect that wire from the multitude of sharp edges and hand-slashing gizmo's which seem to lurk anywhere on the car that I wish to work!!! However, my cars MAY be full of white wires in wiggly conduit, but I don't remember it. Sadly, I'll have to get into that part of dash on BOTH cars, and maybe a third -if plans to use Mitsi Clearance goodies come to fruition.
Ssshayne,
Can you trace either of these wires back a bit - esp the white if it doesn't go into a factory bulk-loom? Or look for added wires in dash/under-bonnet/fusebox/boot? I "THINK" my parents base-model TJ Series I has no power areial wiring in the boot at all - they bent a manual aeriel and I pulled out boot lining and didn't see any loom to suit a spare TL aerial I had. If your car is the same, then someone may have added a power wire and the "signal" wire from HU area back to boot. Check also, if the aerial installed in your mum's car is a Magna one (and attached to genuine loom in the boot), or is it a universal aftermarket one?
That's about all I can suggest.
