Hey guys,

Finally ordered my JBL amp.. and then they told me it was discontinued, so the guy from Ryda sorta put me on the spot on the phone, and suggested a couple of amps to me, one of which was a fusion amp that put out less power than my sub handles.. and the other was a Kenwood KAC-9104D.

He told me he could change my order to that, and throw in a power cable/rca kit for the same price.
I agreed, and he said they'd ship it out soon..
Just looking it up now, and I can't find a decent review of it.

All I can find is either a "Review" that lists the features of the amp and has a couple of pictures -.-, or (assuming) Americans that wouldn't know SQ if it bit them in the ass, saying things like "OMG Brew, this pumps broo, I got mi 2 15z ho0ked up to it and it h1ts soooooo hard"..

Anyone have Kenwood gear?
I've got a 12" Hertz 350w sub that I'm going to run with it, and I'm not looking for massive amounts of bass, but just want something that sounds good, crisp, clean, and is fast, for things like metal/hardcore (double-kicks, etc.)

Hopefully it'll be nice, I just want to know if it's going to be absolute crapola, because I can cancel it if it's got no hope.

Thanks guys!
~Aaron

have alook at the alpine V12 amps
cant buy them from the shops anymore but can get them off ebay
also depends on how much you wanna spend
theres heaps of brands out there but stick to the known brands ;) (alpine, eclipse, rockford etc.)

Yeah mate, I normally would so some research first, as I did with the JBL, but because he put me on the spot, I totally forgot, and he told me the rated power's this much higher, etc.

I don't want to have to cancel it just to have to look around for something else if there's nothing wrong with them.

Kenwood's a well known brand.. Do they generally make good amps?..

Does the Amp even make that much difference in SQ apart from the numbers that it specifies, like it's frequencies and stuff.

Thanks

EDIT: I had already paid for the JBL, then he rang and told me they don't stock them anymore.. So to avoid refunding and repaying, he gave me the Kenwood for the same price, and just altered the order.

Yeah of course amps will play a part in SQ.

THD @ rated power
Damping Factor

are probably important to look at with the sub amp. I could tell upgrading from a Jaycar amp to an Audison amp ages ago, deference between the Kenwood and JBL - not much really. So then it comes down to reliability... do you feel lucky :D

Haha.. Hopefully if it feels like it's got a problem, it'll blow up before 12 months!
Thanks mate.

I really just want to get a sub in the car for now, will probably be upgrading speakers, sub/s, and amp/s when I get around to it, I was just hoping that this one would sound good, as money comes in short supply for me.

Yeah they will generally have a problem either just before or just out of warranty. Barstards lol.

If the Kenwood suits your budget as does what you want then go for it. Brand name is exactly that.

I've had a couple of kenwood amps, never had a problem with either of them and they produced a good sound. I'm just about to fit my 4 channel kenwood into the vr-x for front and rear. I wouldn't stress mate they make good stuff.

Depending on what you want to spend.

Fusion & Kenwood Amps are regarded as average.

Rockford are very hard to beat! If in your price range.

Quality products that last and last........with the same quality the whole time!
