regular GT's only have normal brakes with an option to upgrade to Brembos. The GTP (which I have) is the one that got the 6 piston brembos front and 4 piston brembos rear.

Yep thats on the BA GT's/F6's only. The BF onwards models got 4spot brembos on the front and single piston rears with the option of the bigger 6spot front/4spot rears which like you said the GTP got standard.

im already planning on upgrading the blower in 12months or so, i want a top mount so the torque is there right through the rev range, unlike a centrifugal that builds up boost and torque as the revs increase. im thinking yellaterra or kenne bell. but this is a long way off
1500ft/lbs of torque?

yeah i think wook is on the money, im happy with the top end, i just wish it was more lively off the mark, new 4.11 diff gears will help me out there but
Taken from ford forums:
The figure you have is called tractive effort (apparantly)
Here you go:
The formula is:
T = (TE x r)/(1000 x R)
The tractive effort is obtained by multiplying the torque by the total ratio of power train and dividing this sum by the rolling radius of the driving tyres.
T = (TE x r)/(1000 x R)
Where:
T= Motor torque in kg/millimetres
TE = Tractive Effort in N
R = Overall gear reduction including both axle and transmission
r = Rolling radius of loaded driving tyre in millimetres
Example:
TE = 5400
R = diff ratio X gear ratio (eg 3.45 diff x 1.00 Auto 3rd gear = 3.45)
r = 326.60 mm (18" rim/ with 235/40/18 tyre combo)
T = 510NM
So you need to know:
diff ratio
what gear the run was in, and it's ratio
what rear tyre size is (and convert that to radius in mm)
MAD35L
01-04-2009, 01:27 PM
4th gear
diff i think is 3.63
rolling diameter is the same as a magna i think
Whats the gear ratio? (of your 4th gear?)
Might be a stupid question - but whats the rolling diameter of a magna tyre? lol
wookiee
01-04-2009, 01:47 PM
Whats the gear ratio? (of your 4th gear?)
Might be a stupid question - but whats the rolling diameter of a magna tyre? lol
you're not after the rolling diameter, you want the rolling radiius. OD for stock (205/65r15) is 647.5mm, so the radius would be half that (323.75mm). OD of 235/40r18s is 645.2mm (radius is 322.6mm).
gear ratio *should* be close to 1:1 (that's why they do dyno's in that gear).
cheers,
.wook
EDIT: so working on a 1:1 gear ratio, 3.63 diff ratio and 322.6mm rolling radius you get:
(~1600 x 322.6)/(3.63 x 1000) = 143 which is blatantly wrong.
RE-EDIT: thinking about this, it works in metric, not lbs...

When it was dyno tuned, it made 192kwatw and "about" 450Nm at the flywheel. They're 400Nm stock, and around 150kwatw stock. So I basically gained 40kwatw and 50Nm from an exhaust. Either way, those numbers are pretty far from your claim. :eek2:
Incase that isn't clear enough, you said in a FI setup, torque = power x 2. Meaning if someone made 200kwatw, torque would be 400Nm. So unless I've misunderstood that...

He did say approx ......
Anyway stock 150kw atw would be around 200kw atm so x2 is 400Nm ....... spot on!
After the dyno tune you netted 28% more power so half of that ...... 400 + 14% = 456 Nm ..... ~450Nm.
Sounds like a reasonable rule of thumb I think.

:roflwtf: Hang on a minute. He said power at the wheels or the flywheel won't make much difference. My car makes 192kwatw and around 450Nm.
192 x 2 = 384 - Nowhere near 450Nm.
Assuming 150kwatw = 206kw flywheel stock, unless my maths is retarded (which is possible) that's a 31% difference. So 192kw + 31% = 252kw at the flywheel modified, which by EZ's formula (respectfully) would be 504Nm.
Besides, when you got your 28% more power figure, you have to double that - remember power x 2 = Nm. You halved it in your equation. So it would be 400 + 56% = 624Nm.
Where am I? :iough:

I'll agree in stock form EZ's "guesstimate" is pretty close, at least for my car - it'd be interesting to apply it to a bunch of different FI factory cars.
My tuner told me he approximated the torque at around 450Nm. It could be closer to 500, who knows. :ninja:

When it was dyno tuned, it made 192kwatw and "about" 450Nm at the flywheel. They're 400Nm stock, and around 150kwatw stock. So I basically gained 40kwatw and 50Nm from an exhaust. Either way, those numbers are pretty far from your claim. :eek2:
Incase that isn't clear enough, you said in a FI setup, torque = power x 2. Meaning if someone made 200kwatw, torque would be 400Nm. So unless I've misunderstood that...
why give the kw atw and the Nm at the fly? it only really matters what ya get to the ground

Audi RS6 Avant: 426kW, 650Nm.
BMW 335i: 225kW, 400Nm.
Bugatti Veyron: 746kW, 1250Nm
FPV F6: 310kW, 565Nm
Mercedes SL65: 450kW, 1000Nm.
Mitsubishi Evolution X MR: 217kW, 366Nm
Nissan R35 GT-R: 353kW, 588Nm
Porsche 911 997 Turbo: 353kW, 620Nm
That's about all I can think of for now... :ninja:.

also running a large cooler and getting air flow though the small opening at the bottom and a little ontop whats the intake temp like???

A plastic BOV won't hold boost aswell as a metal one. The stock BOV on EVO 8's and 9's (infact all EVO's except the 8 MR) are plastic. Most people uprade to an EVO 8 MR BOV, which is a metal unit, straight away. It holds boost a lot better, especially near redline.

im still running the standard plastic bov... @ 22psi :woot:
do boost tests all the time and shes not leaking yet (ie not cracked yet)..
but im waiting for the day to come when it does.. they hold boost exactly the same till they crack.. a perfectly good plastic bov will hold boost exactly the same as the metal MR bov.. obviously the metal one wont crack at hi boost though...
as for this falcon.. @ 8psi or 12psi, plastic would be totally fine.. BUT, if you dont own a bov you'd be silly not to buy a metal one.. no point in being a tight ar$e on a build like this...

:facejump: It's still not an argument you can win. A stock EVO 9 driven by a good driver will run low 1.09's. Considering Tonbas car has more power and torque than an EVO 9, and better suspension, it's easily going to be faster. There's no doubt his car is capable of low 1.08's which is 5 seconds a lap faster than yours.

The fact that its plastic has nothing to do with it, its the spring in the thing that matters.

this is true until the plastic one cracks (which happens all the time on hi boost apps.)
they can even crack only the smallest amount so u cant really hear it.. only time u'll find it is doing a boost leak test.. i do them often but most ppl dont... so you far better off with a metal bov....

I agree a plastic bov isn't the best idea, some of the metal factory ones leak with high boost aswell.
I have a bov laying around here somewhere that i turned up on the lathe from a block of alloy. Works well for a home made one.
