Hey guys, i'm getting my GE kit painted atm but before it can be completed I have to modify the Drivers side rear pod for my exhaust. As per the pictures below, I want to cut out a section of the pod to line up with the current exhaust cutout on the rear bar and then just mount the pod on either side.

Does anyone have any ways of me measuring accurately where ill need to cut without actually taking the rear bumper off as i've heard this is a massive pain in the ass! I've thought of possibly dropping the exhaust down to mount the pod and mark it off but I don't know how hard this would be...

Make a cardboard template and start from there.

Annese, I had to do the same thing. Just remove the final muffler mounts. This will drop the exhaust just low enough that (when you have the RH pod mounted) the exhaust tip top will touch the GE pod.

Then it's a question of sitting right behind the tip and sighting the position of where you wanna cut the pod. I used a real soft 2B pencil to mark the outline. The second tip is to start with a small shallow arc cutout on the pod and gradually make it bigger as you keep testing the cutout by pushing the exhaust back up after each cut. The last tip is to use a Dremel with a fine barrel sanding bit on it to get that real smooth professional look to the final fiish of the cutout.

Let me know if you want a pic of what mine looks like.

Start a few mm INSIDE the intended cutout zone so you can take the cut out to the correct edge once the rough cut is made. A dremel and TWO hands will blitz thru it. I did mine on my AWD (x2) with a grinder - gotta love the surgeon hands (minus the pay and lifestyle :( )

you could just try what Mr Woody TJ did... http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/member.php?u=7301 He just cut them and used them as 2-peice pods.

Basically this is what I did, this photo is after i'd just made the cuts so since then i've neatened them up and straightened the one on the left a bit and is all looking good. Next pics will be with the kit fitted!
