After some advice It looks like I might have to pay for this Magna on ebay but it was too late to remove my bid as I didn't read the part about a bit of paint fade.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260355400455&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=016

The good thing the timing belt was done at 180,000ks or is it due again ?

Can paint fade be restored ?

Is it still a bargin ?

Can I profit from this or keep it ?

This is what the heat wave did to me I wasn't thinking straight

id be less worried about the fact that the paint's a little dodgy than the fact that the engine is only a 4 banger...

I'm waiting on the guy to contact me to tell me more about it but he doesn't respond to his emails properly only once during the auction.

The guy lives in Linton outside Ballarat

Some good news finally tracked his phone number down and had a chat on the phone mechanicaly he says there is nothing wrong serviced everytime on due dates every year no smoke no cv joint noise smooth gear box change.
He is taking more pictures of the car now and will email asap.

If the paint fade is not bad I should be able to just give it a cut and polish to restor it ?

A polish will not buff that out.. it has lost layers of paint... polishing it will just make it look glossy at best.

Assuming it has resided around a coastal area at some point.... I'd be checking for rust throughout whether he says it's all good or not.

Do keep in mind that you are entitled to a full refund if the product purchased is not as described, or doesnt do what it should. basically, they told you in the ebay ad "the paint on the roof and bonnet is begining to fade", however, that amount of fade began years ago. They also didnt supply a pic in the ad showing how bad the fade was.

I would try and use this to get out of the purchse, if your unsure, call fair trading in your state.
