How do you tell if your engine mounts are wearing out?? and are there any noises that come from it?

cos i'm getting some knocking noises when i play with the clutch in first gear..

i didn't get any knocking noises (i only stuffed the top one though!!) but i found that the car was a ***** to drive.... felt like the clutch springs were stuffed and the car would shudder under braking and acceleration! as for your knocking noises.... depends on what sort of knocking you're talking about... if its a shudder of the drive train it could well be your engine mounts!

I have chunks missing from my engine mount rubbers lol...and there's never been a problem. I will be replacing them though that's for sure!

mine sposedly got a roadworthy when i bought it and it had 2 engine mounts stuffed. i could never really notice. still drove smooth with no real worries.

how much do they cost to be replaced?
