Had sway bar (adjustable Whiteline) fitted about 3 months ago. Tried it on the lowest setting (hole on the end) and a few days ago I moved it to the middle setting. Can't understand why Mitsubishi shot themselves in the foot by not introducing the bar before TL (on most models). The change form lowest to mid setting has made a huge difference and the car handles heaps better. The steering feels a little heavier and the backend behaves better. I feel the steering vagueness is reduced. A good spend of $300 odd. In a few months I will move it to strongest setting (but think this might make the car skittish).

depending on your suspension setup and alignment, going to the hardest setting shouldn't make that much of a difference to the rear end. if you've got a bunch of toe on the rear, it may become skittish off-throttle, but if it's fairly neutral it'll be fine.

rear sway bar ftw!!

cheers,

Also a huge fan of the Rear Sway bar addition to my KJ - esp since its been on the firmest setting.

I had to get Whiteline/Redranger to reshape my bar to stop it clashing on the rear toe-control arms, they modded the bar on my car and are supposed to be making a brand new one for me.

Emailed them last wk, they say to expect the brand-new reshaped bar soon.

My thinking is standard suspension with good shocks, good tyres, sway bar and correct alignment and the Magna is a pretty good thing. Maybe will try Strut brace, just not sure if it is worth the trouble and cost.

Is there any advantage over the standard sway bar on the sports models? Has anyone been able to compare?

a thicker bar will help to dial out more understeer. How much I am not sure. Biggest jump will be from one without one as standard to a whiteline 22mm jobbie

i know of a mechanic in sydney that would make you one from custom in any thickness within reason. He is good, in fact whiteline bought his company and intellectual rights

You read there garbage?

Whiteline is OWNED and RUN by Red Ranger Inc, for those who dont know RR are, they are the largest australian manufacturer of australian suspension products and services in australia, whiteline gear is merely a "sports" version of the regular nolathane gear with the yellow colour instead of red.

As i said before whiteline is no longer an individual company, it is merely a sub section for a larger company. (been that way for a number of years now)

so you are saying that at no point in the past it was possible for "whiteline" to have bought out another company?

They did buy out companys years ago most notably Selby, now the old fart who made these was based in Melbourne, he was the only dude that i know that used to do custom bars.

That being said, i hear the new hollow style swaybars shouldnt be too far off the market from Red ranger, well if my insider info is correct anyways.

yes whiteline bought his company alongwith the swaybar designs. this was a long time ago, the dude used to operate out of Karingbah in Sutherland, NSW. He now owns an independent workshop specialising in front-end modifications. Still makes sway bars.

Just wanted to plug the K Mac bar. Similar effect, quick and friendly service.
