Ok, this may or may not sound wierd, but i was driving tonight and got a phone call, paused my music and started to hear a high pitched but soft noise that sounded like a vacuum leak or something similar... It got higher as i revved harder and when the clutch went in, it dropped suddenly before rising again when i took the clutch back out.

It even almost sounded like my car became supercharged but very quiet. (could only hear with music off)

My girlfriend then says, "is it coming from the speaker?" and i was like wtf how does that work, but sure enough, i turn the deck actually off and there goes the noise... should i be worried about this random noise that makes my car sound supercharged from the inside?

Question 1. Rear speakers (amped) or front?
Question 2. Tried pulling the amp fuse then checking?

sounds like you just have some noise interfearence getting into your RCA leads. nothing to be worried about but if you really have to fix the problem just get some high quality oxygen free cables.

I had the same problem recently, right after installing speakers in my front doors. Turned out a wire was making contact with the door, and the speaker made the same high-pitched whine you're describing with the clutch in and driving, but not with the clutch out.

alternator got a supressor on it?,if the sound increases with engine speed,my guess is AC interferance

Make sure your speakers are connected properly to the amp, mine buzz sometimes if they come loose... If it is engine noise getting into the RCA's it would be coming out of both rear speakers, however they are pretty high quality RCA's you have in there so it shouldn't be an issue.

hmmm actually, it could be the wiring between them... (speakers to amp i mean)
i kinda dodgyed it up, snipped the old spade connectors off, got new speaker wire and twisted em together and taped it all up... maybe the fact its two wires from the speakers to the amp?

poor grounds of the amp can also cause this
