i own a 92 tr and i havn't been able to drive it for a while because of this problem. it won't leak until i turn it on then when the oil is put through the sensor it will piss out. the problem is that is i can't get it off to replace or repair it. do i need a special tool or something?

You should find a large ring spanner (carnt rememba the size) fits over the body of it and it undoes easy.
If that fails , shifter

It is a bastard side of a spanner you'll need too, something like 25mm
But thats it, just unscrew, and screw in new one. done

If you have the correct socket for the senders they are puss easy to get out
Reptiles should be able to sell you the correct socket for around $15 bucks

Can it be done without changing the oil? i was under the impression the oil must be drained in order to replace it...

yeah its up high but its in a prick of a spot hence why i couldn't get to it with what i had. luckly no more problems so far apart from when i got the car back from the mechanics and i kept hearing a thud noise in the engine....took the hubcap off and old mate didn't tighten the wheel nuts back up and i could loosen them with my fingers...drove around like this for a day :O

imo take it back and ask them some serious safety questions....thats pretty poor even for a dodgy mech, lol just ask paul about dodgy mechs...
