Just a quick question, which way does the V6 TE magna motors spin? Clockwise or anti-clockwise
Want to do an engine conversion and not sure if they spin the normal way or the opposite like the honda motors.

Can anyone help me out?

Dunno why which way the motor cranks has anything to do with an engine conversion but it spins clockwise.

if the motor spins anti clockwise then all the gearbox and diff will spin backwards, therefore having 5 gears in reverse and one gear in forward motion doing top speed of 50 odd k's an hour.

im doing a rwd buggy and want to use the magna motor as they are cheap and easily sourced

Magna engines spin clockwise. In a TE onward this is clockwise toward the radiator, and in a TS and earlier it spins clockwise toward the firewall. (For reference's sake)

Ah, i see know.

Look at the pajero motor for rwd, shouldnt have any issues at all then

all combustion engines spin the same way

EDIT: sorry i should say 'normal' combustion engines e.g. car, truck, 4wd etc

aeroplane engines sometimes spin backwards to these and possibl;y some boat engines.

sorry to be a pain, but do you know what model/year etc etc pajero i should look for?

i have been searching for a gearbox to suit etc but so far have only come accross the long 4wd gearbox.

Im not too fussed if i have to make a custom bellhousing, anyone know what size flywheel/clutch the magnas are, or even the diameter of the flywheel of an auto. (worst case i have to keep it atuo, would preffer the auto obviously)

thanks for the help.

is the motor going to be rear mounted or front? if its Front mounted rear drive a 3.0l box out of a 2wd triton will be the sort to chase, as for clutch sizes have a look at www.exedy.com.au everything is listed in there catalogue.

Pajero wise anything 1996 onward with the 6g72 onward will be the weapon of choice

Guys, the rotation of an engine is classified as when you stand at the back (gear box end) of the engine and look forward to the front of the engine

Just like when you refer to the left side of a car as if you are standing at the back looking forward.

This means that the engine rotates anto clockwise.

Some early hondas (civic i think) did rotate clockwise and screwed a lot of mechanics up lol

ok....well i mean does it spin clockwise when you are looking at it from the timing gear (front of motor)

Its clockwise if you look at it from timing belt end.

i have been looking for a pajero gearbox (rwd) and cant seem to find one for sale, i can find complete cars for like $6500 but no luck finding the gearbox, (will the rwd pajero box from a 1996 onward fit the 3.0 and the 3.5 magna motors? or are the 3.0 and the 3.5 different in some way?

No they are the same, anything from NJ (?) onward has the same motor as the fagna bar the manifold and a few very minor externals.

Also look at triton gear its the same as pajero/fagna as well. As i said a 2wd triton with the v6 will be the way to go. Only difference in 3.0-3.5 is bore stroke ratio and deckheight (18mm)
