I have a friend over in NZ at the moment.

I have an opportunity to get some diamante parts over here in Aus.

Can I please get a rough idea of what people are after?

I wont be shipping a whole car or anything stupid like that, but I was thinking of chasing some Diamante front ends, not bumpers, but the grilles and headlights for 2nd gens? I am yet to still work out shipping prices, but this is just on paper for the moments, nothing set in concrete, but I need to know what to kinda chase....

Roughly will be looking at $150 bucks for 2G Diamante grille setups... will try and find 4 - 5 of these...
Do they do them in 3rd gens?

With the 3rd gen paras, they are just the ones with the black surrounds like on the 2nd gens? I might be able to get a set of paras for about 150 for 3rd gens, see how I go....

Yes 3rd gen fog lights, most of the diamante's over there have them IIRC... The one displayed above does - They go for 150-200 per set in aus, WITHOUT the fog switch - With the switch is 250-300.

To give you an example, the CHEAPEST you will get in Aus is 200 - They'll be clouded too, for clear ones - $300, for near-new condition - $400, or new from mitsu - $800.

i wouldnt pay more than 200 delivered to my door for them, mainly because im just going to hack them up anyway

hmm its a 3rd Gen grille (TE-H shape) with silver/chrome mesh and a little GDI badge. :)

Ok, so far it looks like the majority is 3rd Gen 1 piece parabolics, and fog lights are the go. What everyone has to consider is my friend is doing this out of generosity for me, so I can ask her (yes, female) to start pulling 1,000 parts off magnas, this has to be a majority rules kinda thing.

Keep your requests coming, remember, being reasonable in size (fog lights, paras) but in the next few days I will be deciding what will be the most benificial to ship over. I am sorry for those who will miss out (pre apology) but I am doing this out of kindness towards fellow members so that we can all have sexy looking magna/veradas :)

This chick isnt like super mechanically minded, so we will stick with your headlights and fog lights for the moment, GDI grilles well, they will be harder to chase, and I don't want this to drag on forever, these things you might have to chase yourself, like your stalk.

FYI grilles are quite easy :) There are about 8 clips behind the grille, simply push them in and each one will come lose, then pull the grille away - 30 second job.

Fog stalks are easy with a drill ,you need to take the steering wheel off to get to them...

gasoline direct injection.
the fuel injectors are inside the cylinder, instead of behind the inlet valves.
able to achive better spray pattern over the pistons.
this apprently allows a leaner burn under light load, which improves fuel effiency.
emissions are apprently reduced using gdi , more power too, from the fuel spray, having a cooling effect, and then u can advance the timing, thus giving u more power.
or somthing to that nature

tell your female friend to go to a pick a part not wreckers over here in nz, i can get a diamante chrome grill, like on mine for 17 bucks. and the lights etc are cheaper, if you guys want stuff give me a list and ill check if theres some and get a price for ya plus postage. ill do it for nill as im off work at mo and bored as hell.

Watch how exactly you are going to be getting them over or you will get nicked with an import tax, its pretty steep (i brought over 20 sets of 1pc ages ago when i was in kiwi land for work)

Ill look into postage, ill be able to send items up to about the headlight size, not sure whats involved with anything larger. id say customs would have a good look before ya got it. ill look into it tommo guys. trim bits etc will be simple. ill take pics of the cars and wats there so you get a picture.

You are correct there, although the one piece ones look better as they are a complete unit..... although are more prone to 'fading' or 'smoking' because they are plastic

the double piston calipers are $26 each and vented discs are $23 each so i could upgrade my front to double piston setup for $95, plus id get the seal kit and replace the seals, about $15 each.:D :D oh and was just thinkin conversion rate is good for you guys.

I already have the Series 1 Diamante front bar, although it's in dire need of a respray to Gun Metal (Mitsubishi Charcoal) grey, to the point it may be worth just buying a new bumper pre-painted- it's been sprayed up with a vinyl based paint which could be hard to remove. Plus it's missing the lower air spoiler or "lip".

I already have a somewhat unique light and grille setup, so it's not entirely urgent to switch yet, but i'd like to find out how much it would cost anyway.

There are DOHC Engines in AUS already. Just need to hunt them down and find one wrecker which doesnt know what its worth. The keep in garage and paint paint paint.

ok i can get a few select parts, anything to big and postage negates any saving, lights are the biggest item ill send, there is one full set of paras, but they are earmarked. there is one lefthand para if someone wants a spare etc. theres 2 pairs of 2nd gen fogs and one pair of third gen fogs. to make sure i get postage correct as i can only estimate weight and size on NZ post website to get a price, i Think its best to deposit the cost of the parts then when i have it packed up and ready to post i can get an accurate cost from post shop, and you can deposit postage cost. it will be close to estimate tho. for example the two lights i measured mine and estimated 10kg for both and got a price $61 of for 3-10 day service. also im not sure if i can send and you guys pay post at your end?? ill check that out tommorow. cheers guys, small items will be cheap as.

well, according to that im fine, i have over 50 posts, they are parts from a wreckers, i have not advertised in my sig, and it will only be a few items for no profit. its actually costing me to get the parts and package and send them. please feel free to report me to the moderators. :cool: if any of the other guys are not happy please let me know and i will retract my offer and leave it at that.

if ya visit www.trademe.co.nz in mitsubishi parts and search for diamante there are a few wrecks with one piece paras, and other parts. if ya join (free) they will send and they will set up an auction for whatever part ya want just ask. plus many use paypal. cheers

Dude the long headlight grille setup would be a BITCH to pack and would most likely get broken in trasit, for these parts search in AUS. I know there are many places in melb which carry them. most just dont know.

its buying them in aus and getting it sent here, theres only one in perth AFAIK and thats on bens car

Big thanks to the guys arranging cheap imports from NZ, I know how cheap you can get gear over there and between this and the Mits clearance place in SA, very beneficial for members. This is approved based on the fact that no profit is being made, but remember, ALL CASH/GOODS transferred are done at members own risks.

im going there today to check wats there and make lights are available, ill take better pics now i know what ya want. as i said if ya go to www.pickapart.co.nz you can see a price list. i do feel for you guys, even your new prices seem dear. how much for the KYB shocks there?? new here they are $189 each.

heres something that might interest ya, this is a pic of a DOHC 2.5, strange intake manifold aye. the lights are scratched apart from two already taken, so ill have to wait and keep checking.

rob, looks like the intake manifold off the 2.5 MVV engine. Mitsubishi Vertical Vortex was implemented in the 2.5 V6 6G73

I am after the wood stuff if poss, any ideas on cost + postage on wood gear leaver surround + wood flip top cup holders + coin tray bit if availabe for 02 Rada ( lighter colored wood ). Also cost for 1 piece, top openeing ashtray please.

I am after the wood stuff if poss, any ideas on cost + postage on wood gear leaver surround + wood flip top cup holders + coin tray bit if availabe for 02 Rada ( lighter colored wood ). Also cost for 1 piece, top openeing ashtray please.

about $11 for gear lever surround, $7 for cupholder, $6 for coin box, and $5 for flip top door ashtray. for postage im asking that money for parts be deposited and when parts are bought and pakaged ill get quote at post shop for postage, then that can be deposited as its hard to estimate and i want to be exact.

Rob all the pics i have seen on diamantes have a different setup regarding the gear stick surround. Ur car has the gear stick to the left of the drivers seat like ours, but every other one i have seen the handbrake is in a different spot :confused: i would kill for a gear stick surround, coin holder, drink holder if it would fit my car!!!

is yours like mine?? i just noticed the others are indeed at the foot well so no indent for handbrake, the ones at picapart are like that

one of the ash trays is pull out and the other is push and slides out.

Mine was made in aussie at tonsley park, according to the plate on the firewall. i think alot of nz ones are jap imports. ill keep an eye out for one the same. i have not seen many like mine,

lol yeah you were the first, and thats the rule, first in first served. as ive said ill keep an eye out for stuff, there is two 3rd gen wreaks at the mo, so it really is whats there. its a matter of waiting and seeing what comes up. i was ****ted about the lights, didnt wipe them down for a look the first time. anyway ill put up anything new that turns up.

Ill leave this up to you mate for the moment, my friend was going to go to Pick-A-Part herself, but seeing as your doing this for the moment while your not working, knock your self out cuz my friend is working currently!

hey i just got back this morning

went down and got me some chrome interior handles..

there was only one diamante there funnilly enough!! there were a few legnums which i wanted to grab the leather/woodgrin wheel.. but the leather was a bit ratty.... next time..

anyway.. the handle surrounds cost a whole $3ea!!!!!!! bargain!! :)

yep we went there quite a bit :) pick apart, and video easy... lol.. tell you what though.. 90% of the houses (and people) in the hutt valley are stuck in a 70's time warp..... just the little things like wall paper everywhere, dual fosets (instead of 2 taps and a single foset), and dairies lol... practically every corner has one of those seedy little corner shops that sells the paper, ice cream, milk and bread... it's just different to the way were used to things over here i geuss!

the pick a part i went to is actually in lower hutt, heading north to upper hutt, not sure what suburb it exactly is..

there weren't to many KJ diamante's that i saw.. they all seemed to be KH/KF 25v was the most common i saw.. (2.5 DOHC V6).. you would be far better off trying to get some KJ rada tail lights locally... they are much more common..

i wanted to get the retractable mirrors.. or at least the guts out of them for mine.. every second car has them over there, same with foot activated hand brakes.. they don't alter anything for the NZ market... just straight off the boat so to speak.. unlike what we get here usually..
