Ok, so theres nothing on ebay that tickles my fancy, all either stainless steel, or no info, or stoopidly expensive. So what types do other people have, brand, size, cost, material etc? Thanks!

A 200 CFM magnaflow one should do the trick nicely around 250 fitted i believe.

i was looking into a highflow cat too, spoke to my exhaust specialist.
he said metal high flow x-force cat, should be around 200 or so.
but he said metal core cats are s*&t house.
he said ceramic core are great, but they are like 400ish

Ceramic cored cat convertors dont flow as much as metal cats and they also dont tollerate the heat as good as the metal cats. The spun metal cats are the way to go if your serious about performance

My car has Pacemaker extractors (ceramic coated black) from there its 3" pipe thru a 8" long 3" flex joint to a 3" metal cat, after the cat it tapers down to a full 2 1/2" mandrel bent system with a glass pack oval centre/centre resonator and also a "hotdog" (ralliart style) resonator near the fuel tank then at the back it a 6" round by 14" long Magnaflow muffler with a big tip.

Na getting it done in town, a mate owes me a favour for work i did on his car (i bought the new flex joint and cat for my car though).

The pacemakers reuse the stock flex joint etc (ya cut the stock engine pipe off 10mm in front of the factory flex joint and then weld a flange plate onto it which allows it to bolt to the pacemakers) unless you want to make up a whole new pipe from the extractors to the cat.

cheers man, so I'll just get myself a cat and go chat to neville again! Hope he's not booked out too far in advance...

I found it hard to find much independent info or comparisons with the various brands, which was frustrating.

the metal honeycomb cats are far better then ceramic cats, although its unlikely on a NA engine to ever cause these serious damage.

The metal cats are just as intolerant of rich fuel mixtures as ceramic cats, but tolerate extreme heat far better then the ceramic cored cats.

You can still melt the metal cats, but cermaic will callapse first under bad conditions.

Yeah zero you're not wrong. Oh well I'm just going to bite the bullet and get a magnaflow one, decent brand, 200cpsi etc. Has to flow better than a stock one nearly 150k old I guess.
