Thats about right.. They are a quick car in a manual..:)

I had a stock manual 3L for a company car years ago and used to much 5Ls. They would always cry too..:)

Poor quality video but doesnt look too extreme. Took about 7ish secs to 100 didnt it? He shifted pretty ****in high though, might have been quicker if he didnt rev it so hard, they run out of puff so high in the revs...

Goes and sounds like a stock manual V6 magna

he changed gear at about 6,500rpm.. spot on really.. any less and the car would be slower, not quicker

Yeah i dunno, maybe theres something wrong with mine, coz it runs out of puff from 5500 upwards, and it seems a waste of time holding it there. And on the dyno my car made peak power at 5200~ and sharply drops away after that.

Stock exhaust?

If so thats usually the answer, the power levels out from around 6k onwards with an aftermarket zorst and around 5k onward with stock.

Stock as a rock TJ Sports 5spd. In a couple of weeks i should be able to see how much of a difference extractors, hi flow cat and 2.5 cat back make to the shape of the graph.

you still wont make power at 6KRPM. 5500RPM maybe but at minimum you'll need a set of cams. these choke at 5500 without some decent modification.

unless someone can show me a dyno graph where they are still making power (not dropping off sharply) at 6K PRM

"Stock except for exhaust" lol

That's like saying my car is stock except for the turbo. lol

The V6 Magnas are pretty quick. I'm always suprised when I drive or ride in Scotty's manual TL VRX.

Yeah they are a quick car in manual. I timed 6.3 secs then i got like slowest 6.7secs so pritty quick without dropping clutch. well yeah u could say stock cause it basically is whats an exhaust gonna compare to a turbo lol.

My TW VRX that was tuned by steve knight ran out of puff above 5800-6000 without a doubt, but was auto, shouldnt make a too much difference though

what sorta difference in seat of your pants dyno (his tuning) or on a real dyno?

i have seen a few 15.00 time sheets kicking around for stock manual VRX's

That was on his dyno while he was doctoring the mixtures and timing etc and doing a power run

That doesn't bother me, i hardly ever rev it that hard anyway. I'll be happy with midrange gains more than anything.

went from 118 to 131 kw at the treads and from about 280 to 293nm if i remember correctly,so not a bad gain from just a tune

Looks like a 3.5 to me, judging by trip computer buttons on dash.

I used to have a TE 3.0 manual and it was pretty quick stock, but as others have noted it used to die at around 5,500 rpm.

So I put RPW extractors, K&N panel, Lukey LR2779 muffler & a Unichip tuned for 95 RON on it, and it was way quicker.

Revved out to 6,800 RPM no problems, and 6,500 RPM was my 'flat out' change up point, just as in the video.

Never timed it to 100km/h or over the quarter, but from memory it went about the same as the video - something around 6.5 or 7 seconds 0-100km/h. Same chirp on the first to second change as well. Take off was the main factor - you have to get it just right. Too few revs and it bogs downs, too many and it just sits there spinning.

So yes, a stock manual V6 Magna is no slouch, and a slightly modified one will see off older V8 Dunnydoors no problems.

Yeah manual magnas are great =) I always used to think that magnas were crap grandfather spec cars until i got mine.

Pretty brutal shift into second, I hate doing that, but I also get it moving by slipping the clutch with 3000rpm in first and that's quicker.

Dude there is no way on earth a basic magna with just an exhaust is going to get anywhere near 6.7 secs 0-100kmh, let alone 6.3

Yep, your timing skills are wayyyy out. Without dropping the clutch you're looking at high 7s/low 8s.

:stoopid: The vid on the first page indicates to me a 0-100km/h time of mid 7's. :wtf:
