I noticed the sticky re audio install, but from the pics it looks like that was older model than mine (2003). Can someone let me know how to get the stereo out? i.e getting the front fascia off etc or point me to a thread that contains info. Search didn't help - cheers!

what model do you have?
I'd assume TL - It's pretty much the same, I think there are a couple less screws though, take the bottom section out then there will be either 2 screws or it will just pop (The Din surround).

you take the bottom bit off by pulling up and it should unclip, unplug the harness for the power windows then lift out
open the lid on the bottom of the console compartment, get a firm grip as this is held in tight and pull towards you
top part on the console should just be clipping in, grab from the din pocket and pull towards you and it should unclip, unclip all wiring harness's (hazard light switch first as it should give you enough to swing the fascia out alittle more to get to the others) and also the hose for the sensor
there should be 4 screws holding in the bracket for the h/u, undo them and it should pull out
have a closer look before removing the bracket to see how it goes back in as it slots over something then lines up at the top
you'll see two extra screws which are just for show, well in my car they are lol

Sweet thanks guys, that was pretty easy! Is there any information on the loom wiring layout at all? Not 100% sure what model, all I know is it's a 2003 model, it has a sort of grey CD stereo, no aux in like the old ones had.

as long as it has contact with bare metal then anywhere should be fine
there should be a few good spots around the area
i would get a ring bit that you can crimp onto the end of the wire, then find a screw that goes into bare metal, remove screw and thread screw through ring then put the screw back in
leave enough wire so you can easily disconnect the deck, also run the wire along with the other cables then get some black electrical tape and wrap it around the wires to make it look stock :)

Easy Peasy, Ease (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0224.jpg) out the gear surround ( includes P/W controls and Cup holders), Prying (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0225.jpg) upwards all around and it comes off, the very front is the only bit that doesnt unclip. that slots in at the front, Disconnect (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0226.jpg) the Power window connection plug,
Apply hand brake, Chock if not on level ground, Place car in neutral and pull surround sliding to the rear of the car.
This is the hardest bit, removing the compartment above where the cup holders were. With the lid open place palms facing upwards Gripping (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0227.jpg) as well as you can manage (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0228.jpg) with both hands ( dont grab the door) and pull to rear of the car. This exposes (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0229.jpg) two screws to remove and the last panel prys (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0231.jpg) off. Disconnect (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0232.jpg) aircon controls, hazard lights and air temp sensor. And the bracket holding in the stereo is right before you, take (http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee217/SH00T/IMG_0232-1.jpg) care with the top screws, they require a metal clip to secure themselves and are like ly to jump off when reattaching. Tape them in place.....
