after doing a fluid flush on the auto in the KJ and realising hose piss easy it is to install a external trany cooler..

what size are people running?, and is there such a thing as being too big, without running a thermostate like an engine oil cooler..

car isn't used for towing, but i do give it a workout every now and then with stalling up etc etc.... just as a precationary thing and really just somthing else to do :)

cheers,

and more importantly, do ppl run them in a series with the factory cooler?

i was thinking this may be a better option to avoid overcooling, and keep the temp stable..

the factory cooler isnt really that great, a big killer of the autos is heat. i dont think you would have any problems running the additional cooler, even a large one, remember the fluid isnt going to go colder than the air rushing through it

This has been covered before on a few occasions

The coolers are a good idea, the first and second gens all had them externally as well as internally.

Some of the early third gens actually have a mounting that will almost allow the cooler from the second to be bolted up to the front of them.

Correctamundo, get a 2nd Gen cooler, flip it round and a few bolts and youre in business.

My KE had 2-3 holes already tapped for the bolts, whereas my KJ only has one with thread the rest are just holes...

Otherwise do what I did and get a bigger cooler and fabricate yourself a bracket from some aluminium and a few cable ties and youre golden.
