hey guys good to be here.

so i bought some stuff to install into my almost entirely stock 1996 tr magna wagon and got up to pulling out the centre console, installing the head unit and am now stuck.

you see, the problem is i dont have a harness to connect from the car to the head unit - i would like to just buy a harness.

i have bought a kenwood one but the ones at supercheap and autobarn and jb hi fi aren't going to work as they're all too late a model of harness. does anyone know anywhere to buy one and/or the wiring so i could just solder this together. honestly im trying to get it done in a hurry but it doesn't look like thats going to happen.

stuff i bought

kenwood head unit - kdc-mp443u
kenwood amp - kac-6202
mtx sub - thunder 4500
pioneer speakers - ts-a1672s
dna 600w wiring kit

Do you know how to test wires with a multimeter and or/test light?

... They didn't make a TR in 96!

It would be either Late TS, or TE?

Actually, it's 2 threads above yours.
Has wiring diagrams in there too, if you need a hand holla.

1996 was TS, Should have the deeper grille, color coded outer casing's on the side mirrors and should have a raised centre console with a lid.

I would DIY.....Usually you will need two harness's
Standard Loom > ISO
ISO > kenwood

That's at least $32 in harness's or if you have access to a soldering iron, solder, and tape, $0

so where can i get a harness then - you know it'd be better for me (being a newbie at this and all)

keep in mind ive already gone to get one and that didnt work so i thought id just need a different harness

not an app0111 because that doesnt fit

Dont do this.....
TS wagons were produced until 1996 until the TE wagon was out.
Ner.
"This body shape was replaced by the all-new TE series in 1996 although TS wagon stocks continued into 1997 until the new TE wagon was ready for launch."

Oh whos right Oh yeah Oh yeah

Spock, try reading through the aerpro catalog at super cheap auto and matching up numbers to your model of headunit plug.

id rather just get a harness even if it does cost a bit more, so does anyone know where to get one?

also would the best place for my speakers be in the front two doors - i have one set of 6ins

Yep...
Did you see if there was one like that with ISO connectors on the end?
If not, don't stress soldering the wires is easy dude.

Worse comes to worse, which I dont really recommend, you can crimp the wires together with male and female blades or bullets but yeah..last resort

what i did is use the wireing harness which came from my headunit and got the magna to iso connnector, and then just soldered, that way i can plug the stock head unit in when / if i need it again

Spock

maybe i can use this http://aerprohifi.com/list.php?pcode=APP0110&cat_name=harnesses&cat_no=10&product_name=ISO+Connector+to+early+model+Mitsubis hi&cat_sno=160

but im getting mixed up with female and male connectors and what i need/have already

im fairly uncertain that i have a female plug from the car already and a kenwood to male iso connector but not too sure.

That's what you need, But you also need the ISO > Kenwood harness IF they make it, then, its plug plug done
