Hey All - just a question, what is required to change the INVECS II Semi Auto to a Manual - would you need to change the ECU??
I know about all the mechanical components - but computer bits and pieces I don't know about - the Ford whose gearbox me and a mate changed over just required a straight swap with no ECU changes at all - but that was an ED - and the magna is a little newer!!
The engine I am looking at putting into my car comes with the INVECS II gearbox - but of course - I don't want that - I want the MANUAL box!!! I just wanna know if it is just a bolt on bolt off job!! - The engine will be out of the car while I do this to make life easier!!

INVECS II is closer to Auto than Manual... Basically it would be the same as an auto to manual conversion I would think.. =/ Pity... From a previous thread, auto to manual conversion is about $6k for parts alone...

Ok Bain that was off topic - bat back too it - the 8A80 comes with the INVECS II box and i wanna bolt the manual to it instead - but i actually wanna bolt the Manual out of a tiburon - if it will fit - 6spd FWD box which i will turn into LSD as well therefore the specs of the car to come is as follows:
8A80 - 4.5L DOHC V8
6spd Manual
LSD
Sounds like fun to me - might cost a shit load but hey - y not!!

i still reckon you'ld be better off with the 5sp manual... the engine will be easily strong enough to push it all quickly!!! shit its already close enough!!
have you checked that the tiburon will fit?
(i so wanna see this car with a V8 in it!!! just call me Big Kev!! :D )

Ok - if this was to go ahead (and will when finance is appropriate) then I will be using my current 5spd - with an LSD with higher gearing ratios - maybe just in 5th - so that I can sit at 120 at only 2200 RPM
BUt the INVECS II and the appropriate Manual box are the same size shape etc - and I already have the box - I just need the engine and if the 8A80 ECU can't handle the manual trans then I will get something aftermarket.

Hey Manual,
Slightly off the topic...
A while ago, I asked about putting in the 5-speed tiptronic auto in mine instead of the 4 speed tiptronic. Apart from all of the "why didn't you just buy a VRX to begin with" crap, I was basically told that as part of the conversion, the ECU software needs to be upgraded for the 5 speed! Anyway, apparently the ECU's are all the same b/w the manuals and auto...just the software that controls the auto is slightly different b/w the different auto boxes!

Makes life easier and cheaper on my behalf!!
Cheers!
